Brett Favre: Third Time's A Charm Or Will He Be Back?
I will believe it when I see it. Until there is an official announcement from Brett Favre and the 2010 NFL season starts, I still believe Favre will be the starting quarterback for the Vikings week one.
Let's remember Favre is now on not one, not two, but his third retirement. At this point you can't really believe all of these sources until Brett makes an announcement himself.
The facts still remain, he is 40 years old and this could be his 20th NFL season. That takes a toll and beating on the body. The hits and sacks start to add up after a while and we saw that down the stretch.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Favre's ankle is a serious issue. If he is not healthy then there is no way he should go out there and risk what he has already accomplished on the field.
Then again, last season he put up some of his best statistical numbers and was a poorly thrown interception away from a potential Super Bowl match-up with the Colts. The Vikings were that close in the NFL Championship game.
Last month at the ESPY Awards, Favre was still unsure of whether or not he would be back for another go around with the Vikings. It is known that Favre doesn't want to go through the grind of training camp.
Last season, he didn't show up until August 18th and still was able to get acclimated quickly.
The same could happen in 2010 if he feels his ankle is healthy.
Just remember what is said today, could be a whole other story when the sun rises tomorrow.
Brett Favre has had an amazing NFL career and many people don't want to see him leave now. Especially Minnesota fans who are put in a bind with Rosenfels and Jackson left to fight for his position.
When all is said and done, I think Favre will open the season at New Orleans.
All the speculation right now is leading to the retirement of Brett Favre.
Don't be fooled by reports, because we've seen this exact same scenario play out in the past.
Just as head coach Brad Childress said, "Nothing's final until it comes from the horse's mouth." Favre is going to have to end his silence one way or another.
Until that moment, I have a hard time believing that his NFL career is finally over.
It happened this way in Green Bay. In February 2009, he told Ed Werder there was no doubts that he had played his last NFL game.
Next thing you know he was playing against his old team with a division rival, the Minnesota Vikings.
Favre loves the attention. The media circus that remains has been an ongoing offseason story watch for the last three years.
It is a top story today, and it remains as August has arrived.
The NFL season is less than six weeks away.
