Cleveland Browns 2010 Training Camp: Observations From 8/2 A.M. (Video)
The Cleveland Browns suited up with pads and shorts on for the August 2, 2010 morning practice.
Mother nature, who is usually brutal during training camp, let up on the Browns and its players this morning since the temperature was in the lower 80s with clear skies.
Here are my observations from the morning practice and a video montage of the practice on the last slide.
1. McCoy and Delhomme Attached At The Hip
1 of 13
During this morning's warm ups and stretching, I could see both Jake Delhomme and Colt McCoy on the other side of the field, sticking together and chatting as well.
This is a great sign that both players understand their roles in Cleveland this season.
Delhomme is the mentor and McCoy is the student.
2. T.J. Ward Clarification
2 of 13
To clarify from my Saturday morning recap (July 31), I said the Ward looked tiny compared to other defensive back in the roster.
I was referencing Ward's height.
What Ward may lack in height, he makes up for in width because he is wider than all other defensive backs on the roster.
Ward is built and stout and even though he wears long sleeves, any fans can tell that he is just plain thick all-around.
3. Browns Defense in The 4-3 Scheme

4. Peyton Hillis Is Still "Wowing" Fans
4 of 13
With rookie running back Montario Hardesty injured, halfback/fullback/receiver Peyton Hillis has been showcasing all of his skills so far in camp.
Whether he is running out of the backfield, picking up blitzers or lining up in the slot, Hillis is everywhere when the second team offense lines up.
This morning Hillis was running through traffic up the middle, and would-be tacklers were literally bouncing off of him and to the ground while trying to tackle him.
Also, Hillis had another over-the-shoulder catch along the sideline showing off his surprisingly soft hands for a 240-pounder.
The fans in attendance can he heard mumbling their love for Hillis already.

11. Quotes From This Morning
11 of 13
Whole standing with the fans, I was able to overhear some great and some humorous quotes this morning!
Eric Wright to Brian Robiskie regarding a missed catch: "You don't need to talk to the Ref, you know what you did wrong."
David Bowens to a group of teammates, since he went to to wrong area during speed drills: "Coach said only the fast guys go down there." (Teammates and crowd laughs!)
Lawrence Vickers to a ref who got a little to0 close to the action: "Next time I'm gonna hit you." (Ref responded while smiling, but his response was incoherent and too quiet to hear.)
Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan to his defensive unit on field who caused the offense to use up a timeout in a game simulation: "GOOD D! NICE SH*T!"
Mike Adams at a ref who called him on pass interference for the second time which cause Adams to run a lap: "C'mon...that's the second f-ing time! That is B.S!" (Censored)
