Interview On Arron Asham: Official Transcript

Joseph TrentonAug 1, 2010

Here is the latest on UFA Arron Asham, who could perhaps become a Vancouver Canuck as soon as this week. I was fortunately enough to run across long-time buddy and respected NHL Insider Todd Cordell for a decent interview on the Canucks brass, and the whispers he has been hearing around the league.

Anyways, here is the official transcript of the interview with Cordell:

Hi Todd Cordell, this is Jofu for Bleacher Report. I would like to speak to you about the Canucks recent rumours and whispers. Do you here anything on the Canucks front in terms of what Mike Gillis, the General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks is doing?

Cordell: Yes, they are still trying to move Bieksa as they have 6 defenseman making 3 mil or more per season. They are also looking to upgrade their 4thline. I can confirm that they are in talks with Arron Asham.

Oh, is that true. Arron Asham. We have heard Asham's name surface since July 1. As a Devils insider, and credible NHL writer, what do you know of Arron Asham as a player?

Cordell: Arron Ashamis a very under-rated player in all aspects of the game. He can fight withthe best of them despite his size. He can play on the PK, and even chip in offensively like he showed during the Flyers Stanley Cup run. I will end it off with this, any team in the NHL would be lucky to have him.

Thanks for that description, Todd. Can you confirm or briefly mention about his suitors? Who is currently talking or going after Asham?

Cordell: The Lightning and Canucks are showing the most interest in Asham, however, if it is possible Arron Asham would like to stay in Philly and would take a pay cut to do so.

Ok. thanks for the interview Todd.

Cordell: No problem

Have a nice day. We'll talk to you next time.

Cordell: Thanks for your time.

There you have it. Todd Cordell updated you with the latest news on the Vancouver Canucks. Jofuis proud to have Todd on board and speak with us. I will try and find more information tonight and tomorrow morning on D Kevin Bieksa and UFA forward Arron Asham.

Thank you for reading.
