Kenny Huang Nears Liverpool FC Takeover As Hicks and Gillete Near Exit ?

Kaustav BoseAug 1, 2010

In what could be a startling turn around to the takeover story of Liverpool FC, it's not the Middle East but the Chinese Kenny Huang who is tipped by reliable sources to have entered into some serious negotiation with the RBS and a deal to buy the club could occur even before this month or (more importantly) this transfer window closes.

The only hindrances that has now surfaced in the quick takeover is the intervention of George Gillette, the co-owner of the club, who still thinks a Saudi Consortium would be a better deal to settle for. As for recent reports, Yahya Kirdi , who hails from Syria and was thought to be involved in the deal with former Celtic player Andrew Lynch brokering the talks even in April this year, but it broke down.

Gillett is thought be buying time from RBS on the background of Yahya making an acceptable bid of 600m GBP for the club, which could be a little too optimistic.

However if RBS turn on the heat, the current owners would find it difficult not to yield, given the present financial conditions at the club.

That brings us to Kenny Huang. Now a website live4liverpool.com (on 26/04/10), had given a profile of Kenny Huang earlier when his name was in reports last time.

The key thing from the report being:

"The two things you need to know about Huang then, are that although he is wealthy, it is his backers that really hold the billions. The second fact is that not only will he bring wealthy backers, his connections with China’s state owned companies mean exceptionally lucrative sponsorship deals from the Far East. If Huang’s consortium does takeover, expect many pre-season tours of China, but also keep in mind that Liverpool maybe the first football club to crack the highly lucrative market in China. Huang already has a track record of doing this, tying Anta to Houston Rockets and more recently Tsing Tsao to the Cleveland Cavaliers. His passion for sport is undoubted with his deal-brokering in both Basketball and Baseball, and he now looks like turning his attention to football and Liverpool FC."

All of the above makes a pretty interesting read. However, Huang's interest in sports and his efforts to maintain a good image in related business should buy him some credibility as a good owner, something that Liverpool FC desperately need.

Although the reality of this speculation is still questionable as many talks have formerly broken down, but the fact that the news has made it to more respectable columns should really go down well with the Liverpool FC fans, who wait with baited breath for the end of H&G saga and the return to glory days.

As of now it looks that China heads the Middle East in the race to takeover Liverpool FC, one of the most successful clubs ever in English Football.
