NFL Training Camp: Detroit Lions Almost Done With Ndamukong Suh Contract
Ndamukong Suh is almost officially a Detroit Lion.
This morning, the Detroit Free Press reported that Suh is expected to sign today with the Detroit Lions.
In addition, sources close to the situation have shared that nothing is currently holding up the finalization of the contract. A basic structure was agreed upon early this morning. No details were given, but the deal is expected by many to be in the ballpark of Matthew Stafford 2009 contract.

However, the reason the contract was not signed is the timing of Gerald McCoy's contract. The third overall pick signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as negotiations in Allen Park, MI were ending. Both the team and Suh's representation shrewdly wanted time to finely comb over the details of his deal.
Neither Suh nor McCoy were expected to wait for the other to sign.
Any agent licensed through the NFLPA can request a copy of any NFL contract while teams can request copies from the league office. This is standard practice and nothing out of the ordinary.
Throughout the process, it is thought that Suh has stressed the importance to his representation that he wants to be on the field for the first practice. Because of that, it is thought that he will be at Allen Park for the 3PM Saturday practice either as a full participant or as a show of good faith.
