Dirk Kuyt Out, Marek Hamsik In for Liverpool FC?

Kaustav BoseJul 29, 2010

It may be only a matter of time before Javier Mascherano, the Argentine captain, leaves Liverpool formally.

As Liverpool nears their Europa clash with their Macedonian rivals without 13 of their first team players, there are rumours doing rounds in plenty. A rumour that has gained momentum from reports today is that Rafa Benitez may revive his interest in one of his best buys at Liverpool in the form of Dirk Kuyt.

Rafael Benitez, nicknamed by the Italian media as 'Big Ben,' is supposed to have famously written the name of Dirk Kuyt first when asked to write down the name of the best Liverpool team he had.

This would leave Liverpool with quite some amount of cash at hand after the departure of both Mascherano and Kuyt.

Rumors are rife that Roy Hodgson has planned to revive his interest in Marek Hamsik, the Slovak Captain.

The website givemefootball.com in Italy, however, considers the transfer fee asked by Napoli would be too much for Liverpool to take, but the flurry of transfers may just leave the club with enough money to make the bid for the player.

Marek Hamsik is considered one of the best young players of Serie A and is surely being followed by a lot of clubs. He scored 12 goals last season for the club, taking his tally to 33 in 116 appearances.

He should be a superb buy for the club, but Liverpool will certainly need to sell some players and plan where they want to play Hamsik if they are serious about forming the Slovak pair of Hamsik and Skrtel at Anfield.
