MLB Trade Rumors Live Blog: Cubs Deal Ted Lilly to the Phillies?
3:52pm CDT - Heyman also reports that the Rays have gotten in the mix for Adam Dunn.
3:50pm CDT - SI.com's Jon Heyman seems to contradict the below report. He says that the Phillies are talking to the Indians about both Jake Westbrook and Fausto Carmona. No indications, outside Ed Price, that Lilly has been dealt.
3:39pm CDT - Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, via Twitter, has a report that Cubs' left-hander Ted Lilly has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for Triple-A pitcher J.A. Happ. The deal is not confirmed so we'll have to wait until there's official word from either club.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
3:07pm CDT - ESPN's Jayson Stark has an update on the Dodgers looking to acquire another outfielder. We know that they're after Scott Podsednik but the other outfielder looks to be Ryan Raburn of the Detroit Tigers.
3:05pm CDT - Rumors have slowed to a crawl this afternoon as teams and their front offices get ready for late afternoon and evening games. We'll have more for you late tonight and tomorrow as well as keep you up to date on any deals that go down within the next few days.
2:32pm CDT - Ken Rosenthal, via Twitter, has two different reports. First, the Los Angeles Dodgers are apparently considering a second outfield option outside of Scott Podsednik. No indication whether talks with the Royals have fallen through or if the Dodgers are wanting to acquire a second piece. They are also looking into Blue Jays' reliever Scott Downs but says it's a long shot.
The Colorado Rockies could trade reliever Joe Beimel even if they don't become "sellers" at the deadline. The Phillies have apparently shown interest in him.
2:30pm CDT - ESPN's Jerry Crasnick checks in via Twitter. Arizona general manager Jerry DiPoto is willing to talk about any of their players with exception to Justin Upton, Ian Kennedy, Miguel Montero, and Chris Young.
2:25pm CDT - Ken Rosenthal says the Angels are still looking for a hitter but only in the right deal. They may end up waiting until August to make that deal.
2:04pm CDT - Craig Elsten with 619 Sports seems to think that the only thing the San Diego Padres need is a left-handed reliever. Not sure I agree with him, but to each his own.
2:00pm CDT - Royals' beat writer Bob Dutton has a twitter follow up on the talks surrounding outfielder Scott Podsednik.
1:48pm CDT - Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Giants and Dodgers are still in on Scott Podsednik.
1:32pm CDT - Brian McTaggart of MLB.com says Roy Oswalt would want "ample time to decide on any possible trades."
1:30pm CDT - SI.com's Jon Heyman, via Twitter, says the White Sox are in the market for a bat at first, third base, or in the designated hitter role.
1:26pm CDT - Jayson Stark of ESPN reports that the Dodgers are close to acquiring Royals' outfielder Scott Podsednik.
1:24pm CDT - Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports says the Cincinnati Reds made a "cursory" call to the Astros about Roy Oswalt and were also interested in Cliff Lee before he was traded to the Rangers.
1:17pm CDT - More on Derrek Lee not waiving his no-trade clause. Bruce Levine of ESPN has a piece out on the situation. In it, Levin says Lee told the Cubs that he would not accept a trade out of Chicago and that the team had gotten offers from both the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
1:14pm CDT - ESPN's Jerry Crasnick says Diamondbacks' second baseman Kelly Johnson would be a good fit for the St. Louis Cardinals
1:07pm CDT - Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports, via Twitter, reports that the Houston Astros have no interest in trading pitcher Matt Lindstrom.
1:05pm CDT - SI.com's Jon Heyman, via Twitter, says the Giants are looking at Scott Podsednik, Scott Downs, Jose Guillen, and Brandon League.
1:00pm CDT - Jim Bowden of XM Radio is reporting that the Texas Rangers are "inching" close to acquiring a first baseman. There were rumors earlier today that they were chasing Prince Fielder.
12:56pm CDT - Bob Scanlan of San Diego Channel 4, is reporting that Chicago Cubs' first baseman Derrek Lee is refusing to waive his no-trade clause and wants to stay in Chicago for the remainder of the season.
12:52pm CDT - Update on the Rangers chase for Prince Fielder. Will Carroll, via Twitter, says the chase will start with the Rangers giving up Martin Perez among a few other pitchers.
That's too much if I'm the Rangers.
12:46pm CDT - Schulman also puts his two cents in on the Jorge Cantu rumors. He says that while he hasn't heard anything personally regarding the Giants' interest in Cantu, he trusts Ken Rosenthal's report on it from earlier today.
12:44pm CDT - Hank Schulman, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports that while the Giants are still in the race for Royals' outfielder Scott Podsednik, the Los Angeles Dodgers are apparently making the strongest push. Schulman says the Dodgers don't know how much more they'll get from Manny Ramirez.
12:38pm CDT - With Phillies' outfielder Shane Victorino officially going on the disabled list, it puts the odds of Jayson Werth being traded from slim to almost none. At least not until August.
12:33pm CDT - Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has the latest out on the Phillies and Astros talks surrounding Roy Oswalt.
12:29pm CDT - The San Diego Padres have been rather quiet on the trade front. They were linked to Royals' outfielder David DeJesus before his season ending injury, though who wasn't. They were mentioned alongside Scott Podsednik until AOL Fanhouse's Tom Krasovic shot that one down.
They need a starter for their rotation, so I would imagine they would look at guys like Ted Lilly, Jake Westbrook, or even Brett Myers. I don't believe they are in the Roy Oswalt race, however.
12:24pm CDT - Quick note on Marlins' infielder Jorge Cantu. ESPN's Amy Nelson, via Twitter, says she talked to Cantu who told her that he would like to re-sign with Florida this winter.
12:21pm CDT - SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Texas Rangers have joined in the race for Brewers' first baseman, Prince Fielder. They join the Angels and White Sox who are also very interested in acquiring him.
12:17pm CDT - ESPN's Jayson Stark checks in, via Twitter, and reports that the Phillies could be interested in Clevaland Indians' pitchers Jake Westbrook or Fausto Carmona.
12:13pm CDT - Looks like the Phillies and Astros talks could be heating up again. Ken Rosenthal, via Twitter, reports that the Phillies know what the Astros want in return and that they can acquire Oswalt without giving up outfielder Jayson Werth.
Rosenthal also reports that the Cardinals are no longer in the Oswalt race, the Dodgers have made zero progress in talks between them and the Astros, and the Phillies are torn as to whether or not they want to add additional payroll and if they want to give up the prospects to get the deal done.
12:08pm CDT - New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand tackled the Roy Oswalt question in terms of him landing in New York during his chat this morning. "The biggest problem with dealing for a guy like Oswalt (which, by the way, I don't think they're going to do) is that he fills a spot in the rotation next year and beyond, which will limit their ability to sign Cliff Lee unless Pettitte retires."
12:04pm CDT - Buster Olney, via Twitter, reports that the Astros are working "very hard" to work out an acceptable trade for Roy Oswalt. Nothing is certain as far as what teams would be interested as there will be prospects and Oswalt's 2012 option involved.
11:43am CDT - Todd Zolecki, MLB.com beat writer for the Philadelphia Phillies, reports that the Phillies do not have to trade Jayson Werth in order to acquire Roy Oswalt and especially if Shane Victorino is going to miss significant time with his oblique injury.
11:40am CDT - It's come to mind that Yankees' short stop Derek Jeter is without a contract beyond the 2010 season. While I don't think the Yankees would ever let Jeter wear another uniform other than the pinstripes, it should be noted that the Yankees don't negotiate contracts until the end of the season.
11:29am CDT - Checking back in with Mark Feinsand's chat this morning. He was asked about the possibility of Adam Dunn being in pinstripes. Feinsand admitted that though Dunn would be a good fit in the DH role, every inquiry, as far as the Yankees are concerned, will have teams asking for Jesus Moreno.
Feinsand also tackled a question about Joba Chamberlain being traded. I agree with his response which he said he wouldn't trade Chamberlain no matter how much he struggles.
11:25am CDT - Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News weighs in on the Jorge Cantu rumors. Grant reports that the Marlins were asking for pitchers Derek Holland or Martin Perez which the Rangers are very reluctant to give up.
That being said, Grant thinks the more affordable option would be Orioles' infielder Ty Wigginton.
11:21am CDT - There was a rumor out yesterday that the Texas Rangers and Florida Marlins were in talks about Jorge Cantu. Those talks simmered when the two sides couldn't agree on the money aspect of the deal as the Rangers were wanting the Marlins to pick up the more than $2 million left on his deal.
This morning, news came out that the San Francisco Giants had stepped up their pursuit of the Marlins' infielder and they now look like the favorite to land him.
11:20am CDT - Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News is doing a live chat this morning. The first question he was asked was about the Yankees possibly acquiring Kansas City Royals' reliever Joakim Soria.
Feinsand responded, "Unless the Yankees are prepared to give up Jesus Montero for him (which I wouldn't do), I can't see him landing in pinstripes. That said, I would expect them to deal for SOME reliever, especially with closers such as Matt Capps and Octavio Dotel looking like they'll be dealt before Saturday."
11:16am CDT - Another Ken Rosenthal tweet from earlier this morning. The Cleveland Indians have been getting calls about left-handed reliever Rafael Perez but says the Indians are not motivated to move him at this point.
Rosenthal also reports that there's been very little action on Indians right-hander Jake Westbrook. Seems most teams know that he'll clear waivers come August and might be more moveable at that point.
11:14am CDT - John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, via Twitter, says Reds' general manager Walt Jocketty doubts that the team will make any trades at the deadline.
11:04am CDT - Detroit Tigers' pitcher Jeremy Bonderman is contemplating retirement if he isn't signed by the Tigers this off season or picked up by another team out west, close to his home in the state of Washington. That's surprising seeing as he's only 27 years of age.
10:56am CDT - Morosi has another update, this time with the Atlanta Braves. He says the Braves would love to add a center fielder but they have not inquired about Arizona outfielder Chris Young or Mariners' outfielder Franklin Gutierrez.
10:51am CDT - Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports says the Pirates are getting interest from teams in reliever Javier Lopez. The left-hander has a 2-1 record with a 2.48 ERA this season.
Morosi is of the opinion that the Giants, Phillies, Red Sox, Twins, and Rays could use a left-handed reliever like Lopez.
10:47am CDT - The Phillies may as well give up on Roy Oswalt. The Houston Astros' right-hander has a no-trade clause and though he hasn't said the words "I don't want to play there," it seems quite evident that he wants no part of the city of brotherly love.
10:44am CDT - Ken Rosenthal, via Twitter, reports that the Minnesota Twins have inquired about Cubs' left hander Ted Lilly. The only problem with working out a deal is the fact that Lilly has the Twins on his no-trade list.
10:42am CDT - Talks between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers surrounding Prince Fielder and Corey Hart are apparently "dead in the water" according to Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.
10:36am CDT - With former Arizona Diamondbacks' pitcher Dan Haren now a member of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, another DBacks's pitcher could be on his way out.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports says the Nationals apparently have interest in acquiring right-hander Edwin Jackson.
10:32am CDT - Chicago Cubs infielder Ryan Theriot was getting interest from the San Diego Padres yesterday who are seeking infield depth especially with the injury to David Eckstein.
However, the Colorado Rockies have apparently jumped into the running for Theriot according to Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post.
10:26am CDT - Let's get up to speed on what we've heard so far this morning.
The Boston Red Sox are apparently after Toronto reliever Scott Downs, but the Blue Jays seem to think that the Sox are willing to overpay to get him. Something I don't believe general manager Theo Epstein is willing to do. The Jays apparently asked the Red Sox for infield prospects Casey Kelly or Jose Iglesias.
The Yankees are also in on Downs but they are not willing to give up Joba Chamberlain to get him even though Joba is on the outs as the eighth inning guy.
SI.com's Jon Heyman, via Twitter, has a good point when he said that the Blue Jays may not be overly interested in trading Downs to a team in the same division.
