Why Kane's World Title Reign Is Good For All Concerned
Hello all Bleachers!
In my column today I will be assessing why having Kane as Smackdown's World Heavyweight Champion is set to be good for all who are concerned, well most anyway.
Just over a week ago as you all know by now, Kane cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase which he won earlier in the night on Rey Mysterio to win his first World Championship for 12 years!

This title win as come at a timely moment.
The Smackdown roster, like it or not, is certainly promoting the "Youth Policy", WWE are trying to create. Of course you need some old experienced heads in between which is why they benefit from The Undertaker, Kane, Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy and Christian. It appears that Kane is in the process of a heel turn, he cashed in on the second most loved babyface amongst kids, Rey Mysterio and then this past week on Smackdown yet again he saved Mysterio before attempting (but failing) to Chokeslam him.
We all expected a Kane v Taker match at Summerslam, currently that isn't happening and at the very least we thought we'd have seen the last of Rey Mysterio as he's due to take some time out, currently that isn't happening either.
I don't believe we will get what was originally expected.
Again Mysterio's time off is being put on hold because although Undertaker's being advertised for Summerslam I'd be surprised if he returns in an actual wrestling match; instead just showing up at the end of Kane's match to either cost him the title or just attack him after it. Although some may not want to see Kane v Taker feud again it certainly benefits Kane who gets to dice with his (kayfabe) brother one more time in the ring and I still believe many will want to see them feud so the fans should gain an intense, highly-fuelled rivalry between the two.
Looking at the PPV's down the line at least two matches can be set. Kane v Taker at Night of Champions then two weeks later at Hell in a Cell.
As for the rest of the roster well, it gives them, and creative more time to build up their future stars. While Kane enjoys his World Title feud with Mysterio and possibly onto Undertaker (depending on whether they use the belt in the feud), upcoming stars can be built to challenge whoever the World Champion is come the end of it all and then the "Youth Policy" really takes full swing. Guys like Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre and even Christian to an extent don't really need a lot of work to be pushed to the top as Kofi especially as already had a small taste of what it's like.
Jack Swagger has already got sustainable heat from the crowd, and has already come across as a reliable worker in the ring so he's always a fallback option for creative.
Others further down the chain like Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and MVP need much more time and work so whilst the top mid-carders as mentioned above have their time those further down the process build themselves up until you have a good handful of stars who are all capable of being World Champion. Rarely will we see Taker & Rey both active at the same time so if only one top face is on the brand there's the chance for Kofi, Christian and MVP. Likewise if Kane or Swagger (assuming Kane completes a heel turn) become injured then McIntyre, Rhodes, Ziggler and I haven't even mentioned CM Punk yet; will all be able to fill those boots.
Great opportunities for them all.
So definitely exciting times for the Smackdown roster, there's certainly more of an opportunity on the blue brand than on the overcrowded red brand where there are so many big household names; Cena, Triple H, Orton, Edge, Jericho, Sheamus, The Nexus and soon to be Miz & Bourne, it's tough for guys like Morrison & R-Truth to force their way through (let's just hope the Raw v Nexus angle can change that).
Now's the time as a wrestling fan to sit back and watch the Smackdown roster grow, a good few of the mid-carders will get their chance. So with the prospect of seeing Kane v Taker in a string of PPV's and the rise of the hope to be World Champions, exciting stuff is on the menu over on Smackdown!

As a side note, that was my first column since being on Bleacher Report and I found it hard yet challenging and exciting to find something popular, interesting and still original. I hope you've enjoyed it and of course being a rookie on the site I will welcome any feedback.
Thanks Bleachers!
