MLB Daily Market Wrap UP

Dan FabrizioJul 30, 2008

Moving Today's Market

If anybody wants to tryout and become a major league player there are spots available on the Braves roster. Tuesday night the Braves traded first baseman Mark Teixeira to the Angels for first baseman Casey Kotchman and minor league pitcher Stephen Marek. That leaves the Braves without two of their three hitters in the heart of their order after placing Chipper Jones on the disabled list Monday. They have lost four straight games and will face Chris Carpenter and the Cardinals tonight. This is Carpenter's first start in almost 16 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Pinnacle line opened at -122 and has sinced moved to -116 in favor of the Braves. The reason for this could be the Braves starting Jair Jurrjens. He has a 3.02 ERA and his 10 wins lead all rookies. We have touched on it all week and will continue discussing the Cubs/Brewers series because it could be a preview of the NLCS. The Cubs won the first two games and look to take the third game in this four-game series. Ryan Dempster (11-4, 2.99 ERA) will start for the Cubs, and Manny Parra (9-3, 3.72 ERA) pitches for the Brewers. Dempster defeated the Brewers on April 3 and April 30, with both games at Wrigley Field. He is 10-1 at home, but is 1-3 with a 3.42 ERA on the road. The public is slightly favoring the Cubs at 55 percent and Pinnacle opened at a pick but has since moved to -112 in favor of Milwaukee.
