Reggie Bush: How Will Possible Return of Heisman Trophy Affect Him?

The Heisman Trust is still deciding whether or not to take Reggie Bush’s Heisman title away for his alleged acceptance of illegal benefits while playing college football. Even though this happened in his past, how will it affect him now?

As it has been with other professional athletes, bringing to light negative aspects of their past or present can hurt their performance. Many athletes, like Tiger Woods, have had trouble getting back into the swing of things after they have been punished for something they did wrong outside of their sport.

If Bush follows this trend, he may not have as successful of a season with the Saints this season as he did last season. If he does follow this trend and has a bad season next season, this will hurt not only him, but his team as well. If Bush doesn’t play at the same level as he has in the past, it could cost his team wins during the season, and hurt their chances of going to the Super Bowl again at the end of the season.

This could also hurt Bush’s reputation.

As of right now, Bush has a very professional and well-respected reputation. However, this had slightly changed, and could further change for the worse if his Heisman Trophy is taken away from him.

If his image or reputation is further damaged by this scandal, Bush could lose endorsement opportunities, volunteer opportunities, or other opportunities to further his career.

Even without his title being taken away, Bush has lost a lot of respect from those who may have viewed him as a role model before news of his alleged acceptance of benefits while he was playing for the University of Southern California.

The news of his illegal actions may have cost him some fans, who may have lost their respect from him.

Any of these outcomes are bad for Bush, and any way this goes now may only further hurt Bush’s career
