Rangers Dream Remains

They are level on points with Lyon after five games, but stay above the French Champions on the head-to-head ruling. The Rangers shocked European football in round two, with a convincing 3-0 win in France.

With the break of the ball not going their way last night (although the second goal was quite fortuitous), I was left thinking the Rangers' mistakes, not Stuttgart, cost them victory. We are suddenly a good side!

I thought long and hard before realizing that this is the best Rangers side since '92-'93. Back then we reached the Champions League Semi Final before going out undefeated to the great (and infamous) Marseille side of the early 90's.

There is something about the current side I haven't seen it before—the confidence of our young Scottish players. It's refreshing!

Five years ago, having two Scottish players in the starting lineup was impressive and our multi-million pound squad basically couldn't kick it's own behind when it came to Europe.

Last night we attacked the Germans with no fear and it was fantastic to watch.

Six Scots started for the Rangers and, after an injury to De Marcus Beasley, we ended with seven. Back in '92-'93 we also had a mainly home grown side, spearheaded by the legendary McCoist-Hateley partnership.

I'll stop comparing them, as the sides were in completely different generations, but the fact that both were Scottish teams playing for my beloved Glasgow Rangers, just makes it that much more special!
