Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquaio: Stop Picking Sides, Pick Boxing

There have been millions of words spent on a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquaio. Almost every one of those words has been spent picking a side.

Stop picking a side, they are both hurting the sport that we love. If you love one of these fighters, it's time to put that love aside.

It may be hard to do but it's something you should do. When you get down to the bottom of it neither fighter has signed the contract.

You can say Pacquaio is on steroids, you can say Mayweather is scared. Neither of those may be true or they both may be true, but the fact of the matter is neither fighter has made this fight happen.

Before I go any further, this sentence is for all the bashers out there. I like both fighters and don’t prefer one fighter over the other.

Pacquaio may be the best offensive fighter in the game today and Mayweather is the best technical fighter in the game today. So I am not defending or putting down one fighter.

The simple fact is they can't agree on the fight and it's hurting the sport of boxing. This is a fight that reaches past the hardcore fans.

This is the fight that puts boxing in the spotlight for one night. Boxing wont die with this fight but man is it nice to have the sport we love on the main stage for one night.

Also by delaying this fight you are having a lot of people walk away. Every time the fighters make a big declaration and then walk away people get less interested.

In America, boxing is a niche sport and this fight can bring it back. It may bring it back in the smallest of ways but it can.

These negotiations also take away from fights that actually happen . You had a great slate of fights last weekend and they were all overshadowed by these “negotiations.”

By showing loyalty to one fighter you are following blindly. Neither camp has done things cleanly and it is time to start pointing the finger at the camp you hate, and the camp you are loyal to.

If you hate Mayweather, Leonard Ellerbe, Golden Boy, and Richard Schaefer keep on hating. If you love Pacquaio, Bob Arum, and the rest of his team it is time to point the finger at them.

I don’t understand how you can support people who are stopping the best fight in the game from happening. Since that has been said, this is without a doubt the best fight in boxing and MMA.

I hate to offend any UFC/MMA fans but you can't put together a better fight right now. These guys are the best combat fighters and this is the best fight out there.

At this point it doesn’t matter because it wont be happening anytime soon. Not only do we not get this fight but we get slapped in the face with a rematch nobody wants to see or a fight with someone that isn’t even licensed in America.

So we all need to stop following blindly and start pointing the finger at everyone involved. This may sound crazy for boxing fans but we need to unite and let these fighters know that their fan base won't follow them anywhere they go.
