Here are various NHL rumors from the past 24 hours:

According to Andy Strickland, a friend close to Mike Modano has said that Modano has narrowed his choices down to San Jose, Chicago, and Minnesota.

The Predators are looking for a backup goalie for Pekka Rinne. Several names that have come up include Marty Turco, Yann Danis, and even Kevin Weekes.

Nothing new on the Simon Gagne front, as most teams are still waiting for Ilya Kovalchuk to sign.

Several reports over the past few days suggest that Nikolai Zherdev will be playing with Mike Richards in October.

Capitals GM George McPhee has confirmed that they are done with free agency, but he did not confirm they are finished trading. Alex Semin's name has been mentioned several times.

Alex Frolov will make his decision on what team he will play for in the next 10 days.

Patrik Elias has stated that he would love to play with Petr Sykora again, confirming that he does plan on playing in the NHL this season.

Brian Burke is still looking for a top-six forward, and rumored names include Mike Ribeiro, Ryane Clowe, and Simon Gagne.
