Calling New York Ranger Fans: Anyone Else Pumped About Jeremy Williams?
Two days ago, the Rangers signed 26-year-old winger Jeremy Williams to an undisclosed contract.
To many, this may be a small and unneeded signing. At first, that’s what this signing meant to me, but this signing may be the best Sather has made this season.
In 31 career NHL games Williams has tallied nine goals and two assists for a total of nine points. That may not sound like much, but this kid is going to be something special. He showed a lot of offensive promise last season playing in the AHL and scoring 32 goals and 31 assists for a total of 63 points. This kid can seriously play, and I’m very excited about this signing.

I wasn’t very happy about the signing when I first found out about it, but after watching a few minutes of highlights on youtube.com, I now understand why Sather signed him.
He can skate, stick-handle, shoot, and obviously score. I’m telling you, look him up on YouTube, and watch his highlights. For his first career goal he received the puck at the blue-line, handled it for about 4-5 seconds, and ripped the puck top shelf on the goalie. He has an extremely quick release.
As I continued to watch highlight after highlight, I started to get excited about this kid. He will definitely fight for a roster spot this fall, and I honestly hope he receives one. He won’t be a top-line player just yet, but I think he would look great on a line with Callahan and either Dubinsky or Christenson as center.
If he doesn’t hit the NHL this season, he will probably play on a line with former teammate Kris Newbury in Hartford. If you remember, the Rangers acquired Newbury in a trade at the trade deadline, and Newbury became an instant success for Hartford. When he does hit the NHL for the Rangers, I’m guessing/hoping he can become a success, and in the next 3-4 years maybe he can even play alongside Gaborik.
While free agency is only about an eighth of the way over, I think this may be the best signing by Sather so far. Hopefully, he (Sather) can pull some moves to open up some spots for some of these better prospects (preferable Williams) to jump into.
Thanks for the read, hope you enjoyed. Any comments/responses please leave them below.
