County Championship Division One Round Ten

Yorkshire extended their lead at the top of the Division One table after they won and second-placed Nottinghamshire lost.

The White Rose county move to 135 points, winning five, drawing four, and losing one after their six wicket win against Warwickshire.

Yorkshire batted first at Headingley and piled on 425, as Gerard Brophy top-scored with 103, while Neil Carter did his best to restrict the home side with 4-87.

Warwickshire failed to avoid the follow on as they scored 253.

Ian Westwood scored 66, while Adil Rashid and Steven Patterson took four wickets each.

The away side did better the second time around as Rikki Clarke's unbeaten 127 helped them to 371.

Yorkshire chased down their target of 200 from 35.4 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Nottinghamshire are second on 115 points, winning four, drawing two, and losing two of their matches after their defeat to Essex.

Essex recovered from 84-7 to post 154 in their first innings, Tim Phillips top scoring with 46.

Nottinghamshire also missed out on batting points as they could only manage 180, mainly thanks to Chris Read's unbeaten 50 while Maurice Chambers took 6-68.

Essex faired better second time around with 328 as Jaik Mickleburgh hit 91 despite Andre Adams and Charlie Shreck taking four wickets each.

Chasing 303 to win, Nottinghamshire were never in the hunt, crashing to 159 all out.

Ali Brown providing the main resistance with 62 as Chambers and Danish Kaniera took four wickets each.

Lancashire remain the only team unbeaten on 105 points, winning three and drawing five of their games.

Somerset are fourth on 100 points, winning three, drawing three, and losing two of their games.  

Essex move up to fifth on 97 points after their win over Nottinghamshire. They have won two, drawn six, and lost two this season.

Durham have 93 points, winning three, drawing three, and losing two of their matches.

Hampshire climb off the bottom of the Division One table to seventh after their innings and 111 run victory over Kent.

Kent posted 251 in their first innings as Joe Denly hit 67 while Dominic Cork took 5-50.

Hampshire piled on 553-7 declared as Michael Carberry (158) and Neil McKenzie (113) hit centuries.

Kent fell to 191 second time around, only Martin van Jaarsveld (82 not out) putting up some resistance. 

Hampshire move to 92 points, winning two, drawing three, and losing four after their victory.

Kent slip a place, on 79 points winning only once this season, drawing four, and losing four.

Warwickshire stay bottom after their defeat to Yorkshire on 76 points. They have won two, drawn one and lost seven times in this campaign.

County Championship Division One starts up on July 20 with Durham hosting Lancashire, Essex facing Yorkshire, Somerset against Kent and Warwickshire playing Nottinghamshire.
