An Open Letter To The "Miami Thrice"
It seems that there is a discrepancy between what the new "Miami Thrice" are "supposed" to do and what they "can" do. This is an open letter to the new sort-of-big-3-two-of-whom-haven't-won-a-damn-thing.
Gentlemen,
Congratulations on your "sacrifice". I put sacrifice in quotes because you're all millionaires hundreds of times over. A sacrifice is when you donate $5 million to charity instead of getting national TV, doo-dooing on Cleveland, and then saying it's "for the kids".
Sacrifice would be taking your entire offseason--and your own money--to build a hospital in a remote part of Africa that has only been reached by brave medical missionaries who have no resources.
You gentlemen have not only NOT sacrificed--you've taken the easy way out. I know everyone is saying this but I think it bears repeating. Jordan, Kobe, Magic, Russell, the greats--they wouldn't have done it this way. And before you complain about the "Showtime Lakers" or the Celtics of the 60's and 70's remember that those teams GREW together and the only major addition was Kareem--and Kareem isn't on my list.
Michael Jordan wouldn't have run to Miami with a "faux" superstar--Bosh--to attempt to win a title. Jordan would have wanted to kick their asses instead. Period.
LeBron, you had the chance to GROW into a great. Into a Magic/Jordan/Russell figure. You chickened out because you don't have the heart and you used national TV to hide your shame. Unfortunately, it backfired on you and now everyone on the planet thinks you're just a disgusting "fame whore".
Chris Bosh, be glad that D-Wade is your best friend. You're going to need one. No one on the planet believes you will do anything of substance in Miami--nor does anyone who knows anything about basketball think you're actually a superstar.
D-Wade, you should be the most ashamed. You suckered a heartless quitter--LeBron--and a non-star--Bosh--to come to Miami to help you win titles. You already won as "the man" in Miami. You aren't giving up the ball!
Why do you need the help? We'll never know since we can't read your mind.
I anticipate that your team will struggle to win 50 games--not for lack of talent--but for lack of will. LeBron, you clearly have no will to win or the Cavs would have won the East Finals in 2009 and the 2nd Round in 2010. Chris Bosh, you've taken your team to a handful of lotteries and a couple playoff games. Sadly, you know have no clue what winning is.
Hold on, hold on. Before you bring up the Olympics and all the fun you had. Before you bring up the Gold Medal and all the national pride I want to remind you of something. Not one of you actually made that Gold Medal happen. You screwed around in Beijing for two weeks.
When the chips were down and Spain--with only Pau Gasol as a legitimate threat--was breathing down your neck who came to save your butts? Kobe.
He scored 13 points in the 4th Quarter of that Gold Medal Game to win YOU a Gold Medal--not the other way around. Don't get it twisted. He's so banged up he can hardly walk and he's got more rings than all of you.
He was the second banana to Shaq--then he grew into "the man". He had to fight for those 5 rings. It wasn't easy.
You want it easy. You want to "microwave" a title. It's too bad for you that Boston, Orlando and L.A. will have something to say about that.
You haven't won anything. Frankly, it's pathetic that you are acting as if you have. Take a lesson from the greats--they were competitors. This is just slovenliness.
I'll believe it when I see it.
