Bernabe Concepcion's Joke Was on Him

Bernabe Concepcion was all smiles while being interviewed by a local reporter asking what are his chances in winning against Juan Manuel Lopez he jokingly said “I will win against Juanma because I am more handsome than him” well after Saturday’s fight would somebody tell Concepcion that the joke is on him.

There was a moment when Bernabe rock Lopez with a hail mary punch that send him to the canvass but that was the only silver lining for Concepcion as Lopez dominated him with power punches and was in control of the fight from start to finish until the referee halted the fight in the second round after Concepcion’s legs failed him.
Concepcion is a good fighter but he is just not ready to face such caliber fighter as Juanma. There was no head movement, there was no footwork and fighting toe to toe with Juanma is definitely not a good idea as he moves forward lounging he was greeted by solid shots which back pedaled him in the ropes. The kid has heart like any fighter who fights in the ring but he lacks the boxing mind. There was no plan B in fact there wasn’t even a plan A after all abandoning everything as he greeted Juanma’s punch with “gusto”.

Defense was already a problem with Concepcion and when hit he goes berserk with his emotions just like a trained tiger that no matter how they are well trained. They always go back to their instinct wild and uncontrollable. At still 22 years old Concepcion still has a lot of miles left in the tank. You can’t rush greatness and you can’t go to war with just pure luck. It was never a good idea pitting an inexperience fighter against a well tested one. But it was Concepcion’s chance; it was an opportunity that’s hard to turn down. He knew he had to grab it. It’s fate calling him but as soon as he steps in the ring as soon as Juanma’s punches went through his defense… That’s when reality sinks in.

When ask about his chances he could only think about his looks because deep down beyond that boyish smile and over flowing confidence he knows he couldn’t find any.
