Green Decisions Kessler

Allan Green once said, “once you get into training camp…you feel like a superhero…almost like a god,” for Showtime’s Super Six.

Sometimes you get tired…most of the time the ring is no place for a complacent god…it’s a mortals fire deep within his gut, in the center of his will to survive, surrounded by a dark perimeter, that makes him perform.

I’m not spot on with Green’s thinking coming into his fight against Ward, the talented pool at 168 is no place for a superhero to lay stagnant in front of the worlds toughest villains. And Ward is villainous, he's everybody's Kryptonite. 

Don't matter who you are, you're fighting Andre Ward for the Tournament Title. 

Now Green’s immobility made him stand out like oil in water and Ward spotted his colors and flushed him out with precision. I must admit that despite Ward being favored 5-1 with home court advantage, I pictured Green winning. Not just dominating, but finishing with a knockout.

I envisioned Thor’s hammer in Green’s right hook.

But we all want fairy tale endings.

I just hope that we all know we’re not flying superhero’s in the ring, just warriors on the battle field. I also hope that Green was telling the truth when he said he was weak because of over training, I don’t give up a fantasy easy.

We all want happy endings and we all dream about them. Or I do. Kessler got his against Froch. Is Green ready for Kessler’s reality? I’ll take his word for it and say he wins against Kessler because if he doesn’t, he’ll remain listless.

If Green continues to look green in the ring, he better start treating the Super Six Tournament like a Presidential Scholarship and bust his ass in class.

That said, I’m looking forward to a brutal decision favoring Green over Kessler.
