King Kong Aint Got Sh*t on Me: The Reign of Brock Lesnar

Daddy WarbucksJul 11, 2010

(Disclaimer: I’m a fan of MMA not a nut hugging fan of Lesnar. So before you go saying “man this guy’s head is so far up Brock’s ass I don’t know where he begins and where Brock ends.” I don’t care for Brocks ass…maybe his wife Sables but that’s a different story altogether (please god don’t let Brock find me and make me his puppy dog bitch). I am merely writing about how this freak of nature could possibly hold the title for many years to come.)

Brock Lesnar is an exciting specimen to watch fight. With is incredible collegiate

Wrestling background (106-5 that’s just amazing) and his freakish strength and

Athleticism it’s no wonder he has been able to become champion in his first few fights. In each of his fights Brock seems to get better and better as he is growing in the MMA world, from his improving striking to his brutal ground-n-pound. Brock has shown that his wrestling is beyond anyone’s in the HW Division and has shown that a big boy can move. His pure determination to conquer his opponents is amazing as well.

Granted he isn’t a perfect fighter but, that’s what’s amazing about watching Brock. He knows he’s not the best but he just has the pure talent for fighting. Some people have it. Ali, Tyson, Fedor, Couture, all these men were meant for fighting. When Brock fought Mir I thought to myself “man a fighter of that size isn’t going to do amazing things in this sport.” I was watching that fight with my coach he scuffed at Brock “this guy is nothing more than another Bob Sapp.” Then bam the match began and Mir was getting beat. If Brock didn’t hand Mir that sub he would’ve won. My coach of course said “Told you. All that muscle and strength and he doesn’t even know how to use it.”

I remember that night because, I was a support of Brock (I was a fan for his collegiate background). Later when he fought Herring my coach said the same deal “This white Bob Sapp is going down. Herring has great wrestling and is a decent fighter.” Brock went to dominate the entire fight. He then went on to fight Couture (who I have to admit believe he was going to beat Brock) and took the title. He got his revenge on Mir and unfortunately got ill. But coming back and fighting Carwin was a great comeback.

He showed that he did in fact have a chin and showed everyone something we haven’t seen in a while. I wasn’t surprised that Shane could knock him down but, I was amazed at how fast Brock got his senses back. Ala Muhammad Ali he “ROPE A DOPE” Shane. Blocking Shane’s mighty strikes with his forearms and constantly moving even though he was on his back was something I didn’t expect to see from Brock.

A lesser fighter would’ve folded under such pressure, but Brock showed he has the heart of a champion and took those strikes like a warrior. While Shane blew his load trying to finish off Brock, Brock just rested and let the big man wear himself out. Brock then showed that he does in fact have some submissions when he pulled that arm triangle out of nowhere. Shane must’ve thought what I though “okay he’s gonna try and pass to side control and try his hand at some GnP” I was amazed that Brock pulled off the submission giving him his first submission win. With a fighter of this stature that is always evolving it’s going to be a while before someone can dethrone him. He is constantly evolving and growing with the sport which has been evident in his fights. Brock could possibly do what very few have done in the UFC and that’s hold the title for a long, long time.
