The Fedor Factor

(Disclaimer: I am a fan of MMA not a super nut hugging FEDOR fan. Before you go off all like "Man look at this guy...I bet he knows what color undies Fedor is wearing right now.." I dont nor do I care. I wrote this article because, I'm a fan of MMA and believe it or not Fedor has done amazing things that we should all appreciate.) 

  Fedor Emelianenko. Fedor. The last Emperor. The man who a lot of rankings and other fighters claim is the P4P best fighter in the world. Not many fighters in the MMA business have accomplished what he has. Undefeated for 10 years and one of the most dominant fighters in the sport. Now we all have seen this mans highlight reel and have appreciated his talents.
            As of late though there have been a lot of speculations toward his last few fights. People saying that he is dodging top tier fighters to fight those he knows he can beat. I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with those speculations and I’m going to tell you why in this article. Fedor has one of the bests all round game I’ve seen in a fighter….ever. The man has punching power, submissions, ground-n-pound, and an iron chin. When you combine all of that you have one tough hombre.
            The way I see it (and I’m sure a lot of others see it too), Fedor’s talents are so beyond others that people begin to think he’s fighting tomato cans. A lot of people have been crying about his last few bouts, Arlovski, Sylvia, Rogers, Lindland, and Hong Man Choi. Now each of these fighters was ranked in the top 10 when Fedor fought them and each of these men are well respected fighters for their skills. Now people will argue that these fighters are washed up and are cast offs from other organizations, but the truth of the matter is these fighters are very dangerous opponents.
            Fedor has been defeated before. He was defeated in a Sambo match and the world was shocked when he was defeated by Fabricio Werdum. Fedor never claimed to be the best but has strived to be the best. Fedor just happens to be something amazing. Someone who will take the punishment and then give it right back to you at an alarming rate. Like Ali would do with his opponents in boxing. How Michael Jordan did it to those in basketball. He is a one of a kind fighter.
            Even with his lose to Wedum he still remains a spectacle in the sport. Werdum has already asked for a rematch with Fedor (why I do not know) and Fedor asked for a rematch. Dana White loves to trash talk everyone in the sport, but the matter of the fact is Fedor will still amaze fans.
            Every sport needs to have that one star that forces everyone else to work their hardest. Golf has Tiger, Basket ball had Jordan, Swimming has Phelps, and MMA has Fedor. So instead of hating on the man, appreciate him. Fedor is making the new generation of fighters strive to be better than he is and the results of it are benefiting the fans of the sport. So everyone should appreciate the FEDOR FACTOR.
