Brock Lesnar : Is This Just the Beginning?
There are millions of fight fans around the worldย that despise Brock Lesnar for his post-fight antics, "undeserving" title shot,ย andย extreme disrespect towards his opponents.ย
And he doesn't care.
If the UFC were a comic book, Brock Lesnar would undoubtedlyย play the villain.

Brock Lesnar's life has been one hell of a journey thus far, but one can only imagine that this is just the beginning.ย He's been on a questย over the past few years in search of his true purpose in life, and after obtaining the UFC Heavyweightย titleย inย just hisย fourth careerย fight, that purposeย is crystal clear.ย From WWE superstar, to failed NFL offensive lineman, to UFC Heavyweight champion, it's safe to say he's found his ultimate passion.
There were three things we didn't know about Lesnar heading into UFC 116: Chin, heart, and submission skills.ย All of this was answered in about seven minutes.
Brock Lesnar quickly tried to take the fight to the ground, but taking down a former NCAA national champion when he's fresh is no easy task, regardless of who you are.ย Shane Carwin dropped him and sat on top of him for the majority of theย round reigning havoc.ย All men previous toย Lesnar who were hit by Carwin's 5XLย lunch boxes that he calls fists were put to sleep.
What did Lesnar do?ย He smiled at the camera as if he wasn't about to go toe-to-toe with one of the planet's most powerful men.ย Although I have to admit I got more of a kick out of Carwin's wink.
By the start of round two, Carwin was already looking like he was out of gas. After all, the second round was uncharted territory for Carwin.ย By no surprise to anyone, Lesnar wentย forย another quickย takedown, but this time he got it.ย When Lesnar mounted Carwin, it was payback time, but not in the fashion that everyone expected.ย Instead of throwing bombs, he decided to show the world his ever evolving Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submitted Carwin by an arm triangle choke.
I know he won, but Lesnar finally felt what it was like to be on the wrong side of a beating and we started to see different mindset from Lesnar.ย He veered away from his usual post-fightย antics.ย
"I stand before you a humble champion", said Lesnar.ย Whether it was his first round punishment or near-deathย experience with diverticulitis, Lesnar showed a side of him that we have never seen before.ย A side that will certainly earn him more fans than his previous stunts.
He's still very inexperienced with only six fights under his belt, but with Lesnar's second to none wrestling, superhuman strength, and evolving ground game,ย this could very well be the beginning of aย highly cherished career.ย
This may or may not be the case, but there's no questioning that if Lesnarย keeps this up, heย will go down as one of the UFC's most dominant champions ever.
