Colchester United: Going Back Up

Benjamin RogersJul 28, 2008

Colchester is where I live.

For 19-years I followed them even despite being an arsenal fan.

After two seasons in the Championship they were relegated last season to the division one.

It was painful to watch, because we had just missed out on promotion playoffs to the premier league the season before and it looked like we would try again the following season.

The past is the past and knows we have to look forward to a new season and trying to get promotion back to the championship.

Even though we sold star striker Kevin Lisbie to rivals, Ipswich town of the championship, things still look good.

We have signed four new players and a new star striker, Gillespie, who has been scoring goals left right and center during the pre season games and is tipped to be an international player one day.

In the past we have had the likes of Lua Lua play for last season Teddy Sherringham and us played for our little club.

Before the season starts we have a giant pre-season game against Athletico Bilbao and it will be great to see our new team play such great opponents.

We have just moved into our new stadium named Western Homes Community Stadium and it will hold up to 10,000 people with an extra 5,000.

I hope this will be a new start for Colchester United and I have got a season ticket this season to cheer my local side on.
