TNA Impact! The Thoughts

Daniel PeragineJul 9, 2010

This edition of TNA Impact was titled, “Friends Till The End?”  The show was centered around Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson, and TNA's upcoming Victory Road pay-per-view.

The opening of the show featured Mr. Anderson walking out with a steel chair and quickly introducing Jeff Hardy.  Anderson explained his actions with hitting Hardy with the chair, saying that it was on purpose.  Anderson left the audience and viewers at home in question of his position in TNA.  Would Anderson turn heel?

Match One: Kazarian vs AJ Styles

A good match to open TNA Impact!  The crowd was largely behind AJ Styles.  I didn’t like the count-out ending, as a pin fall would have been a better choice, in my opinion.  Ric Flair, the leader of “Fortune,” announced Styles and Kazarian will team up at Victory Road.  Could this mean either Styles and Kazarian working together well or will AJ change his ways?

Match Rating: Three out of five  (No winner, DQ)

Match Two: Angelina Love vs Daffney

I enjoyed this week’s Knockouts match.  I think having Dafney back helps give the division more depth and some boost.  After the match, Madison Rayne challenged Love to put her career on the line at Victory Road against her for the belt.  Love agrees.  Should be a good match at Victory Road.

Match Rating: Three out of five  (Your winner, Angelina Love)

Match Three: Samoa Joe vs Rob Van Dam

This match was nothing short of excellent.  It was extremely fun to watch.  Both Joe and RVD proved that a championship match between the two could be a great match on pay-per-view one day.  Tommy Dreamer, alongside Stevie Richards, Rhino, and Raven stood in the stands watching.  Plenty of “ECW” chants from the crowd.

Match Rating: Four and a half out of five  (Your winner, RVD)

Match Four: Maxx Buck vs Doug Williams

A solid X Division ladder match, as I feel TNA is beginning to again put focus on the division after weeks of featuring just Brian Kendrick and Doug Williamss's feud.  The match itself was entertaining to watch, although it felt slightly rushed.  Good match overall.

Match Rating: Three and a half out of five  (Your winner, Maxx Buck)

Match Five:  Beer Money, Matt Morgan vs Motor City Machine Guns, Hernandez

The six-way tag team match was a fun match to watch.  The Hernandez and Morgan feud intensified and Beer Money scored a huge victory over Motor City, making a statement for Victory Road as the two teams will go head to head for the Tag Team belts.

Match Rating: Three and a half out of five (Your winner, Beer Money and Matt Morgan)

Match Six: Jeff Hardy vs Mr. Anderson

The main event was pretty decent, as its main goal was to build up for the Victory Road four-way match for the TNA Heavyweight Belt.  After Hardy won, Abyss came out and attacked both Hardy and Anderson.

Anderson, who was being questioned with his trust, went for Abyss with the steel chair.  RVD came out in the final moments of the show to help attack Abyss.  The show ended with Abyss getting up from ringside, staring all three wrestlers down.

Overall TNA Impact Rating: Three and a half out offive

My Take:

Overall, a very solid TNA Impact!  The matches were entertaining, the promos cut were on point, and TNA did a nice job promoting Victory Road.  Although I missed just a slight portion of it (Angelina Love vs Daffney match, saw the last minute of it or a little less) because of the LeBron James decision on ESPN, for the rest of the night I enjoyed watching this week’s edition.
