World Cup Finals Squares Office Pool
Over the course of one month, The World Cup has provided us with many great office pools. From World Cup Bracket pools to World Cup Pick'em pools, we have had our choice in format. This Sunday for the World Cup finals I have a few suggestions. If you don't want to try the Finals Prop Bet pool then here is another very popular idea: The Squares pool. Though a squares pool can be difficult to do in soccer because of the low scoring, I think I have come up with a pretty good solution.
Here is how to create a WORLD CUP SQUARES pool:

Re-Drafting the Last 5 Rookie Classes 🤯
Objective: To hold the combination of numbers that matches the time certain events
Group Size: 2-9
1) Create a squares pool grid that looks like the following (see note below):
| Minute | 0-10/OT | 11-20 | 21-30 | 31-40 | 41-50 | 51-60 | 61-70 | 71-80 | 80-90 |
| Netherlands | |||||||||
NOTE: This is not what it will actually look like as you do not want your participants to know what minute group they get until after they put their initials on the board.
2) Determine how much each square is going to cost ($5 to $10.00 depending on the number of participants)
3) Have participants fill out the board, putting their initials in each box.
4) Draw out of a hat the minute groups and place them in a random order at the top of the board.
5) Scoring:
Payouts will be done when each of the following events happens:
- $30 = Goal
- $20 = Yellow/Red card
- $10 = Shot on goal that ends in corner kick
- $10 = Head ball
NOTE: You can add or delete any events to best fit your own pool and change any of the payouts
- Any money left over will be split by all the people who won an event.
- Any event happening in OVERTIME goes to the participant with the correct team and 0-10/OT group.
6) To determine the winner of each event you must do the following:
- Determine the TIME on the clock when the event happens and the team that did the event.
- Cross reference with your grid.
- The participant who's initials are in the appropriate box wins the payout.
PROs:
- Gives non stop action for the World cup final
- Very simple once the grid is made
- Uses many different events not just scoring
- Squares pool for soccer
CONs:
- Can be difficult to explain
- Most likely there will be money left over
- Limits the number of participants
- Late minute groups have the advantage
