Draft Lottery Winners and Losers
Like I said yesterday Ilya Kovalchuk does not want to go to the KHL as he only would if it is last option. Unless something huge comes up, he will sign with the Devils or the Kings (who have just jumped back in the frenzy).
The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Jeff Schultz to a four year contract extension. Schultz is coming off his best season in the NHL last season as he finished the season a shocking + 50.
According to Dmitry Chesnokov of Y! Sports, the Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Nikolai Zherdev, terms of the contract are unknown at this point.
The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Rob Niedermayer to a one-year contract.
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Joe Corvo to a 2 year deal that will earn him $2.25 mil per season.
Rumors
Rumor has it the Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in UFA Dominic Moore as they would like him to play as their third line center.
According to various reports, multiple teams are interested in forward Arron Asham. It is believed the Devils are among them.
The New Jersey Devils are looking to dump off salary for Kovalchuk and the Blues are looking for a tough veteran defenseman. I have heard former Blue Bryce Salvador's name come up several times.
