NEW YORK - JULY 4: Joey Chestnut (L) of San Jose, California holds up the American flag and his champion belt after defeating Takeru Kobayashi of Nagano, Japan and Patrick 'deep dish' Bertoletti in the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest on July 4, 2009 in Coney Island in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. The absence of Takeru Kobayashi did not affect Joey Chestnut's performance at all. Chestnut entered the day with three straight Nathan's wins. Kobayashi was an ex-champion, but was not able to participate in this year's competition.

Kobayashi is having trouble signing with the right agent to cover him. Until then, the Japanese star will not be allowed to participate in any events for Major League Eating. Among those events is the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition in Coney Island.

Coney Island was again traditionally packed to see the competition and incredible performances by all the competitors.

Chestnut was able to get going right away and downed 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He was declared winner for the fourth straight year and fans celebrated on the boardwalk.

Royalty was in the crowd as Kobayashi eyed Chestnut's every move. In the end, the Japanese sensation made the move toward the stage looking to get to Chestnut.

Some say that he could have been looking for trouble in the first place, but police reports and witnesses say that Kobayashi was looking to congratulate Joey Chestnut.

Kobayashi was arrested after the event ended. No news yet on what charges will be brought against him. There was no ill intent on Kobayashi's side.

This will definitely have an impact on how agents look at him possibly. There has not been an official comment from Chestnut at the moment and what he witnessed.
