NFL Week One: Part III, Opening Day Wins By The Packers and The Giants

Thomas MorelandJul 3, 2010

In previous articles we have picked New Orleans, Chicago, Miami, and Cleveland as opening day winners.

To review picks and reasons, see previous articles and feel free to weigh-in with your comments.

The Green Bay Packers made some nice draft music this season, and some have favored this team to march right to the Super Bowl.

That may not happen, but I will pick them to beat Philadelphia in the City of Brotherly Love on opening day, with a strong, balanced offensive attack, and perhaps one of the better defenses in the league.

Philadelphia has to establish a whole new identity with a new starting quarterback and younger players replacing some veterans.

Kolb will take a few games to settle in as the leader of this team. Vick is history: A cancer that can be cut out any time to avoid future infections and damage. Get rid of this thug/loser.

Kolb has been successful on a short term basis as the back-up, so now it's time to see what happens with many more minutes and truer statistics over an entire season.

Add the Packers to the four previous winners on opening day.

The New York Giants open up at home against another team struggling to find a new identity in the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers running game should be sound, so of course, it's the quarterback play that will determine the winner of this game.

I will go with the other Manning to win this game at home, as Eli embarks on another journey culminating with a game against his older brother in the Super Bowl.

Do both of those guys dream about that game, with their dad watching proudly as two sons compete to win a Super Bowl. What a writers' field day that story would be.

The New York Giants will win their home opener against Carolina.

Your six winners so far for Week One in the 2010 NFL Season are New Orleans, Chicago, Miami, Cleveland, Green Bay, and the New York Giants.

Next up will be Denver at Jacksonville and Cincinnati at New England.

Until then, NFL Mikee, AKA Thomas Moreland, saying Aloha to all.
