Beers for the Fourth of July: Beer Sports Pairings
Have you ever thought to yourself while watching a sporting event, "You know, this beer is really ruining my experience?" Or have you ever been out beer shopping before the game and spent hours selecting your beer?
My name is Larry (Lawn Chair), and I am professional beer and sports pairing expert.
So we have the World Cup, Wimbledon, and baseball this weekend, and here are the beers that are the most appropriate to drink while watching these events.
The World Cup is obviously a monster global event, and right now pretty much all the teams still standing mean business (sorry Team USA). In my travels around this globe I have found one beer pretty much everywhere I have gone. No, not Bud Light fools; Carlsberg , the pale lager from Denmark. Not only is this refreshing beer good for the summer, but Carlsberg has been a long-time sponsor of countless soccer tournaments. Do it up.
Wimbledon is one of the most sophisticated tournaments in the world. So we are going to need a beer to match. Unfortunately this isn't a beer drinkers' haven, as most people associate this event with champagne and white wine. Dogfish Head Festina Peche (Peach) comes to the rescue, offering a good beer fit for Wimbledon. This is a fantastic beer with a hint of peach that would be great at a summer cookout with tennis on the TV in the background.
Baseball is starting to heat up, but we aren't even at the All-Star Break. The beverage for this week of baseball would be the beer that was actually developed in a ballparkโBlue Moon , produced by Coors, was developed in Denver, Colorado at Coors Field.
Have a great fourth of July weekend.
