Arsenal Reveal Their New Home Kit, Cesc Fabergas Says He Might Stay

Jamrock RoverJul 1, 2010

Good morning from a very rainy Dublin. I'm back at work today after a month's holidays and it nearly killed me getting out of bed, but I suppose it could have been worse. I'm not quite sure how it could have been, but that's what everybody keeps telling me.

The first item of news today is obviously the new home kit and the release of pictures of it today. It's available to buy four weeks from today and it can be pre-ordered on the club site, but I think I'll be buying mine in a local shop which usually takes 33 percent off all Premiership Jerseys just before the season starts.

It's apparently a return to a 70s-style jersey with a red bod, white sleeves, and a white round neck. I suppose it does look like a 70s jersey, with the obvious exceptions of the Fly Emirates logo, the Nike emblem, and the different club logo. There's a picture of it below and you can judge for yourself.

In other news, Cesc is quoted as saying that he never said he would leave Arsenal and anything is possible. He never did say he would leave, and my understanding is that he left his future up to the boss who has decided that he is going nowhere.

Cesc still says he is concentrating on playing for Spain in the World Cup, but he must be a little frustrated that he isn't really figuring in their plans, despite the fact that Spain aren't firing on all cylinders. I wonder, will he get a run out if they reach the semifinal and are losing the game to either Brazil or the Netherlands?

The media are still trying to make a mountain out of a molehill as RVP wasn't too happy at being substituted in the Netherlands game against Slovakia. The Dutch players and management have all said there is no problem and the player himself says his only problem is his frustration at not scoring enough goals. I'm sure he will be in the team to face Brazil and hopefully he will bag those goals he desperately wants.

We're linked to a few players today, but I'm not sure if any of them will join us. With the likelihood of Campbell leaving us increasing, it would seem we will need another centre back even if we sign Koscielny, and as a result, centre backs continue to be linked to us. Per Mertesacker of Werder Bremen and Germany is again mentioned as is Simon Kjaer of Palermo and Denmark, but I don't see us moving for either of them. If Campbell does go elsewhere, though, we will need another centre back.

A player I really want us to sign is Eduardo, the Braga and Portugal goalkeeper, and hopefully the boss has been impressed by his efforts at the World Cup too and will act on them. As fans we all know that a top-class goalkeeper is needed, and he fits the bill, in my opinion.

I'll have to leave it there, as my first day back at work is very busy and I'm only taking a short lunch.

Here's to a look at Alan Ball scoring a few goals in the actual 70s jersey.

See You Tomorrow.
