South Carolina's Chicken Curse Is Officially Dead
It has been coming for years. The stake has been positioned over the heart of the beast for a little over a decade.
Now, finally, Ray Tanner and the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team has finally driven that sucker straight through.
The Chicken Curse is dead.
Carolina fans, read that again...savor those words...read them slowly, carefully, and never forget them.
The CHICKEN CURSE is DEAD.
The school can no longer be called the school that has "always been a bridesmaid, and never the bride". The school has a major championship under its belt, and the tide of the entire athletic department is set to swing.
Coach Steve Spurrier has the football team in position to make a run at the SEC East title. The team is loaded in all the skill positions and a nasty defense returns. The Gamecocks have had multiple top twenty five recruiting classes in the last 10 years.
In basketball, Coach Horn has all the pieces in place for a great team in the very near future. Next year will be a rebuilding year, but when his top recruiting classes get their act together, South Carolina basketball will be a force in the SEC for many years to come.
Baseball will be a strong favorite to repeat next year, and will have even more success recruiting great players to the Gamecock nation.
Without a doubt, now is the time that every South Carolina fan has waited a lifetime for. Finally, a major championship is in the books. I have a feeling that this is JUST the beginning.
