Hello, and welcome to live commentary on Argentina versus Mexico. The World Cup has offered some great games so far since starting the last 16 knockout stage and this game should delivery the same type of game.

Anyone who enjoys free-flowing football has to be looking forward to watching Argentina's Lionel Messi and co. go up against Mexico's young starlets.

Full-time Synopsis:

The scoreline does not represent how the game really played out. Mexico had their chances but just could not put them away. Argentina showed sparks of greatness but they were suspect at the back and Mexico showed that they can be had.

Mexico will feel hard done-by based on how they conceded the opening goal and Germany will not fear Argentina to any great extent.

93: The game is over and Argentina will face Germany in the quarter-finals.

91: When will he score. Messi skips past three Mexican players and cracked a shot on goal which was well saved.

90: The final two to three minutes are just being slowly wasted by Argentina and the result is inevitable.

87: The game is just slowly dying out and that is just what Argentina want.

85: Argentina Sub: Pastore replaces Maxi.

78: Argentina Sub: Jonas comes in for Di Maria. Maradona is clearly worried about Mexico coming back and is trying to add some tighter defensive options in the side.

74: Mexico are trying to make something of this game. For the neutral spectator a Mexico goal was well deserved and it was just what the game needed.

70: Great goal. Hernandez turns the Argentine defense and blasts a shot into the top corner past Romero.

Mexico have been given a lifeline and Argentina's defense has been shown for what it really is.

68: Argentina Sub: Tevez comes off for Veron. Maradona is trying to close up the gaps in the centre of the park.

65: The game is beyond Mexico at this stage, but they could pull some honor back if they could punish Argentina who look suspect at the back.

61: Mexico just lack a lethal edge in front of goal and that could be their downfall.

Mexico Sub: Franco comes on for Guardado.

57: Mexico has become very sloppy at the back and Argentina could easily get a fourth and maybe even more.

51: What a goal!!! I have seen some thunderous shots at this tournament, but that was a thunder bolt.

Tevez turns onto his own rebound and just blasts the ball past Perez and into the top left-hand corner.

What a strike!!!

50: Argentina look very dodgy at the back and Mexico could get themselves back into this game if they can take advantage of that.

45: Mexico Sub: Barrera comes on to replace Bautista.

Argentina start the second-half.

Half-time: The Mexican players and coaching staff clashed with the Argentine players and coaching staff on the way in at half-time, and one can only presume that this was to do with the opening goal.

First-half Synopsis:

The game started very brightly and there has been some great football on show. As expected their has been goals and goal-mouth action, it is just a shame that the opening goal has came under dubious circumstances.

Mexico can still get back in the game if they keep their heads up and don't get down on themselves. Argentina have not been much greater than Mexico, they have just been more clinical in front of goal.

47: Mexico are defiantly ending the game the stronger but the fact is they still have an uphill battle to get themselves back into this game.

The final whistle is blown and the first half ends.

43: Another long shot from Mexico. It was well saved from Romero, but if any team is complaining about the Adidas ball they should give Mexico a ring and ask for some shooting advice.

41: Higuain missed a sure goal. He should have put a great cross in the back of the net with his head, but he fluffed the effort and the ball went harmlessly wide.

37: A great save from Perez has stopped Di Maria from putting Argentina three up. Tevez's effort from the save was well blocked and there are defiantly more goals in this game.

35: Mexico to their credit are still driving forward and pressing the issue.

32: And it's there. Higuain punishes poor defending from Mexico and Argentina go two up and Mexico are starting to fall apart.

30: The tackles are getting harder from Mexico. I feel bad for Mexico who undoubtedly went behind from a goal which should not have stood.

Again the questions will arise about why technology should be brought into the game and today's games at the biggest footballing tournament have shown just why.

27: Marquez gets the first booking for a strong challenge on Messi. Mexico will have to show their might if they are to have any chance in this contest.

25: Goooaaalllll. Mexico break first and again its all down to Messi.

Messi drove at the heart of the defense and a Tevez shot rebounded back to Messi who tapped the ball forward and Tevez headed home for his first of the tournament.

Tevez was actually offside and the linesman has made a major mistake.

24: Credit must be given to the referee who has tried to allow the game flow to the best of his ability. He has also refrained from throwing cards around.

22: Heinze flops to the ground spectacularly and with dives like that he should really consider the Olympics.

21: Both teams have set their back-line very deep to ensure that they do not get caught by their opponents pace.

Each side are finding it very hard to break the other teams defense down.

17: The stadium sounds like a giant beehive as the crowd bring the volume to a deafening level with the vuvuzelas.

15: Mexico are causing Argentina some really problems. Mexico look very dangerous as they attack with real pace and speed. The Argentine back-line is suspect without Samuel the sweep up.

08: The crowd erupt every time Messi gets the ball at his feet. Mexico are looking very comfortable and are not letting the occasion get to them.

What a save. Salcido blasted a shot at the Argentina goal and thundered it off the crossbar. Romero was very questionable in his attempt to stop the shot

04: Messi's first touch causes a great roar from the crowd. The pitch has been covered with streamers and Mexico's keeper is on clean-up duty.

03: Both teams are looking set to attack which offers a mouth-watering affair. Both sides are passing the ball quickly.

00: Mexico get the game underway and I can not wait to see a bag of goals from this two great attacking sides.

17 minutes until kickoff: I am eagerly looking forward to this game. Everyone has to love watching the type of football that Messi offers along with other great attacking players such as Dos Santos and Tevez. Don't expect to see any great defensive performances in this one.

Prediction: It is hard to look past Argentina in this game. Lionel Messi has played so well and he has done everything but score a goal thus far in South Africa.

Mexico has the talent going forward to cause Argentina problems but can their questionable defense hold the Argentine front-line. I just can not see that happening.
