NHL Trade Rumors: Marc Savard for Tomas Kaberle?
In recent reports by TSN's Darren Dreger, he's citing that the Leafs and Bruins have again opened up talks about a potential trade.
Since the Bruins made a trade with the Panthers yesterday for winger Nathan Horton and center Gregory Campbell, they seem to have a bit too many front line centers in Savard, Bergeron, Krejci, and Colborne, with not enough ice time for all of them.
While the Bruins sent a big bargaining chip, the 15th overall selection, to Florida, Toronto may still be a viable trading option for the Bruins.

Draft Lottery Winners and Losers
The Leafs own the most coveted defenseman not on the free agent wire. Tomas Kaberle is available and it seems that the Bruins would like him to team with Chara to form one of the best one-two punches in the league.
The Bruins dealt away their No. 2 defender, Dennis Wideman, in the deal, so replacing his shot from the point on the power play and his presence on the ice will not be the tough if they can get Kaberle.
Talks are it will be a swap, Kaberle for Savard.
Personally, I'm on the fence about Savard. He's one of the best set up guys in the league, but especially before the lockout it seemed like he just could not figure out the NHL game. He did not score many points and he was injured a number of times. Granted it was a different game back then, a much more physical game.
But Savard, at 5'10", 190 lbs, and age 32, still seems small to me. even for this newer, faster NHL, and he may be past his prime now.
You could have the glass is half empty mentality or you could have the glass half full mentality. This glass says the Leafs acquire their first line center to stand in until Kadri is ready to make the jump. They still have plenty of cap room to add another forward or two, or a forward and a replacement defender for the void left by Kaberle.
Either way, the draft is nearing and the potential for some deals remains to be seen. Hopefully, for all Leaf fans sakes, there will be some movement come Friday night.
Any Thoughts?
