New NBA Free-Throw Rule Explained

David Batista, Former WWE Champion, Is Coming to Fight for Strikeforce?

Tom NgoJun 21, 2010

It appears that the next pro wrestler to jump ship into the world of MMA is Batista. Apparently, he has signed a two-fight deal with Strikeforce.

While out on a night in the town, Batista (real name David Batista) told the celebrity gossip site TMZ.com that he was done wrestling now that his contract with WWE was over.

“I’m not in the WWE,” Batista stated. “No mas.”

Apparently Batista, 41, feels that he, too, can follow in the shoes of Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, who also made the change from pro wrestling to mixed martial arts .

When asked if he was really going to get into MMA the now former pro wrestler laughed it off while quietly saying that he’d be fighting for a certain California-based promotion.

“Strikeforce,” Batista confirmed.

The only thing he wouldn’t tell the website was who he would be fighting against or when his debut would be, but he did say that he would not fight the baddest man on the planet: Fedor.

“I already know but I’m not telling you,” he said.
