While the Lakers were busy preparing to write their own headlines at Downtown L.A.'s Staples Center, across town Charlie Naimo's Pali Blues took on the Seattle Sounders Women on Thursday night in a W-League match at Palisades Charter High School's Stadium by the Sea.
Halftime sub Dani Toney spared Pali from suffering the first loss in the club's history with her goal in the 87th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw before a crowd of 182.
Tafara Pulse scored the only goal for the Leighton O'Brien's Sounders, in the fifth minute. Defensively for Seattle, Katie Hultin made six saves.
Pali is currently 2-0-2 and will host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, June 19 at the Stadium by the Sea. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
