TNA Slammiversary 2010: The Results And Thoughts

Daniel PeragineJun 14, 2010

Celebrating its eighth birthday, TNA put on an enjoyable Slammiversary event that featured Tommy Dreamer’s debut, some solid matches, and showed how things are looking bright for the company in the coming days.

I will be giving my ratings on all the matches from Slammiversary .

Match 1: Kazarian versus Kurt Angle (Winner: Angle)

Solid opening match. Anyone performing after Angle has a tough duty. He is one of TNA’s most well-rounded wrestlers.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Match 2: Doug Williams versus Brian Kendrick for the X Division Belt (Winner: Williams)

A decent X Division title match. Agreed with leaving the belt on Williams, as I just can’t see Kendrick as the champion just yet.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Match 3: Roxxi versus Madison Rayne for the TNA Knockouts Belt (Winner: Rayne)

The championship match turned out to be just sub par, as it was a quick win for Rayne.  Never before did I see a woman wrestler bleed as much as Roxxi did. Pretty intense sight. Roxxi, who lost the match, agreed to leave TNA for good if she was defeated.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Match 4: Brother Ray versus Jesse Neal  (Winner: Neal)

Brother Ray really knows how to slap his opponents well. I wasn’t very interested in the match until Tommy Dreamer’s debut and the crowd chanting, “ECW.” Just another reason why the ECW storyline may prove to be very successful. Neal winning the match put him over with the fans.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Match 5: Matt Morgan versus Hernandez  (Winner: Morgan)

This match set up what could be a strong feud between Morgan and Hernandez. A quick match that ended in a DQ.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Match 6: Desmond Wolfe versus Abyss  (Winner: Abyss)

Really enjoyed this hardcore match. Abyss is certainly best suited for it. Wolfe also impressed me in the match. Chelsea throwing the brass knucks to Abyss didn’t shock me much, as I felt they were beginning to develop into a team.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Match 7: AJ Styles versus Jay Lethal  (Winner: Lethal)

Lethal is really getting his push to become a superstar. The Styles and Lethal match was very good, near perfection.  I predict Styles may be turning baby face soon.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Match 8: Beer Money versus Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson (Winners: Hardy and Anderson)

The team of Hardy and Anderson performed very well, including Beer Money. An exciting tag team match. I could see the two teams ending up with the belt.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Main Event: Rob Van Dam versus Sting  (Winner: RVD)

I was expecting a better main event but was satisfied seeing RVD win back the belt.  Sting, who looks great for his age, seemed to be limited due to his recovery.  A decent match overall.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Slammiversary Rating: 3.5 out of 10
