Patrick Sharp Hogtown Bound?

Brad LeClairJun 14, 2010

According to the Daily Herald, it appears the Chicago Blackhawks are preparing to trade forward Patrick Sharp. Sharp, who is still owed around 3.9 million over the next two years, and appears to be the first of a few cap casualties on the Blackhawks.

With that in mind, the source states that he's drawing interest from the Columbus Blue Jackets and Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams are upcoming teams and both have the cap room to take on Sharp's contract. A contract that isn't out of this world, but it's a decent sized contract nonetheless.

Sharp is not an elite level player, but many people around the league feel he's just about there.

In Toronto, Sharp would be getting first line minutes and would be relied upon for many roles such as a power-play forward, penalty killer and face-off man if the situation dictates.

I feel he would remind alot of Leaf fans of Ryan Kesler, the second line center for the Vancouver Canucks who plays in just about every situation. The Leafs hardly have players of this calibre on their squad.

I wrote an article about a month ago stating the top 5 Kaberle trades and I brought up a Kulemin and Kaberle for Sharp and Brian Campbell trade. Today at least, we are seeing the first of many rumors that might just allow my trade speculation to come true. I'm daring to dream here, so forgive me.

Thoughts on Patrick Sharp in a Leafs Jersey?
