UFC Prelims Live Play-by-Play: Tyson Griffin (14-2) vs. Evan Dunham (10-0)

1st round – Herb Dean has this assignment and gets them going.  After an exchange of the gloves, the action is underway.  Dunham lands a kick to the body of Griffin.  Another exchange is even after they both come out. 

Dunham goes for the takedown and can't get it, Griffin defends and lands a right hand.  Griffin counters Dunham with another right and then stuffs another takedown.  Griffin takes a right and and answers with a kick to the lead leg of Dunham. 

Griffin hits Dunham with a right hand and then lands a kick to the mid section.  Dunham is hit with another low leg kick.  Dunham avoids a right hand and drags Griffin to the ground.  As Griffin gets up, Dunham tags him with an uppercut and then tries to take his back.  Dunham clings to Griffin’s back and flattens him out . 

Griffin flips over and tries to get control of Dunham’s wrist.  Griffin hits Dunham with some punches to his head, but Dunham is in better position and answers with some strikes of his own.  Dunham doesnt have enough time to convert the choke and Griffin is saved by the bell. (Dunham 10-9)

2nd round – Dunham hits first with an uppercut to Griffin’s chin.  Dunham gets a takedown but Griffin takes his neck and tightens up.  Dunham struggles and gets out after a few seconds. 

Dunham starts his ground and pound from the top using mostly shoulders and elbows.  Griffin tries to get up and Dunham tags him with a knee as he does. 

Griffin answers a couple of Dunham’s strikes with a right hand.  Dunham times a Griffin punch and takes him to the ground.  Again, Griffin tries to get a choke, but it doesnt work and Dunham is out. 

Griffin works to get up and drags Griffin down working for a choke.  Griffin gets wrist control and tags Dunham with some hammer fists from his back.  Dunham is working the rear nakes choke and stays on Griffin’s back when he stands up. 

Griffin is walking around with Dunham on his back.  Griffin continues to carry Dunham around and Dunham is still working the choke.  Griffin drops down and Dunham hits his head.  He then gets back up with Dunham on his back. 

The round is over with Dunham on his back.  (Dunham 10-9)

3rd round – The final round is underway and Griffin goes right for Dunham.  He tags Dunham with a hard right but Dunham continues to move around and makes him miss.

Griffin hits with some low leg kicks and then blocks a combo by Dunham.  Griffin steps forward and pulls for a single leg takedown.  Dunham stuffs it initially and breaks away. 

Griffin hits with a right ahnd and then is tripped up with a kick.  Dunham gets another takedown and gets the back of Griffin.  Griffin cant turn into Dunham and takes some ground strikes from his back. 

Dunham has a body lock from the ground and tries to get a choke.  Griffin is working to get out of the body lock but can't.  Dunham stays on his back as Griffin stands up.  Griffin walks around to the fence of the octagon and tries to get Dunham off. 

Dunham is trying to take his neck but Griffin doesnt allow him.  Griffin drops down and Dunham stays on his back as the bell sounds.  (Dunham 10-9) (Dunham 30-27)

Official Decision – Dunham over Griffin split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
