DeSean Jackson and the OTA Crisis
If you haven’t heard about it already, DeSean Jackson has decided to skip out on this week’s installment of OTA’s.
He isn’t the only player missing this week, but is the highest profile player missing.
There was immediate questioning as to whether this had any involvement with his contract situation, but reports came back saying it wasn’t. Apparently, he just felt like giving himself the week off.
Jackson is in Atlanta hanging out with friend and professional basketball player Josh Smith. After this, he plans to travel out to LA to hang out for the rest of the week.
There has been a lot of discussion about this matter and some interesting arguments have been made.
In terms of his contract, Jackson has said all the right things. However, you know that Jackson wants to get paid, so it’s hard to believe the contract issue doesn’t play into this at least a little bit.
Another reason that Jackson is taking heat for this is the fact that he’s not skipping these workouts to create world peace, stop an oil leak, or do anything super productive.
It seems that he’s skipping the “voluntary” workouts just because he wants to.
Asante Samuel is taking the week off because of a death in his family. Jackson is just kickin’ it.
Am I going to lose sleep over this whole situation? No.
Do I think Jackson should be at this week’s OTA’s with the rest of the team? Yes. However, he’s made his decision.
All I know is that he better come to Lehigh fully focused at the end of July. He’s got a real chance at greatness, but needs to put in the work before he can get there.
