Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao In and Out of The Ring

While Bob Aum and Richard Schaefer are busy negotiating for a boxing fight the world wants to see, fans and supporters of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr are quarreling over who of these two great boxers is the most popular.

Popularity is very important to a boxer because his marketability depends on it. A popular boxer commands a bigger purse than the one who is less popular.

Sponsors are constantly looking for popular sports figures who can influence consumer buying habits which translate to actual purchase of the products or services.

Popularity is synonymous to boxer's capability. A boxer won't be popular if he is not capable, the same way a boring fighter attracts less pf an audience than a boxer who is but fights to entertain.

In the case of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., paying fan expect to be entertained while they watch their favorite boxer slugs it out inside the ring.

Boxing fans say that the entertainment portion in the proposed Pacquiao-Mayweather match will be provided by Manny Pacquiao with his fast and furious action that he has come to be known for.

Although Mayweather has been tagged by media as a boring fighter, he will certainly  attract a certain part of the audience and viewers with his known defensive fighting skills.

To some fans, Mayweather's defence is a product of long years of practice and training. If there were to be an award for a most defensive boxer of the decade, BWAA should grant that special award to Mayweather. He certainly deserves it.

Mayweather's zero loss record has been attributed to his brand of defensive boxing that very few boxers can duplicate.

But boxing fans like to watch action fights and in the upcoming match, Manny Pacquiao will be there to provide the action and entertainment.

In terms of audience and viewers' satisfaction, Mayweather seems to care less if his boxing style is boring to watch so long as he wins in the end.

Pacquiao on the other hand has been vocal about his desire to give the audience and viewers their money's worth with his rapid and powerful punches plus his body movement and amazing footwork.

Outside the ring, Manny Pacquiao is known for his humility, kindness and his burning desire to help those who are in need. These positive qualities plus his discipline and desire to excel in his craft made him the top role model for the youth of the world.

Mayweather on the other hand, loves to show off his accomplishments and possessions. Mayweather loves life and is proud of his achievements. His unblemished record in professional boxing makes him feel comfortable and proud of his accomplishment as a boxer.

On and off the ring, these two great boxers will continue to change the face of boxing with their contrasting qualities and fighting styles.

In the meantime, boxing fans are hopeful that the fight the world want to see will finally happen come November and when it does, it would surely be an entertaining fight and not boring as some fans predict.
