UFC, Spike TV To Counter Fedor vs. Werdum Fight on June 26
The UFC and Spike TV are once again teaming up to air a recent pay-per-view show.
The network will show UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2 on June 26, the same night as the Strikeforce show that features Fabricio Werdum fighting Fedor Emelianenko.
Showtime will air Strikeforce fights that will also feature the return of the female middleweight champion, Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, as she takes on top contender Jan Finney. Also featured on the card will be a match-up between Cung Le and Scott Smith, as well as Josh Thomson facing Pat Healy.
Fights from UFC 113 that will air on Spike TV include:
Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens
Joe Doerksen vs. Tom Lawlor
Marcus Davis vs. Jonathan Goulet
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher
It's hard to imagine Strikeforce, even though their card will feature the top male and female fighters in the world, drawing a higher rating than a UFC show that took place in which everyone knows the results.
That speaks to the drawing power of the UFC and lack of mainstream coverage for Strikeforce.
Most fans are likely to tape one of the shows and watch the other live.
Which fights will you tune into on June 26, a live Strikeforce show featuring Fedor or a taped UFC show featuring a title change in the light-heavyweight division?
