Inter Milan President Moratti: Only Rafael Benitez Can Replace Jose Mourinho

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed his interest in former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

The former Liverpool manager is currently top of the Nerazzurri's wish list to replace Jose Mourinho after much recommendation.

Moratti believes that Benitez is the right man to succeed Jose Mourinho.

“I can only speak highly of him, because he is very talented,” Moratti told the Corriere dello Sport.

“It’s true, we are leaning towards Benitez, and in the next few days we’ll decide.”

“I know Benitez has a good record against Jose Mourinho, I think he’s beaten him five times.

“That’s a sign he does his research, works well, and above all does not get the big games wrong.

“It is also important that he has already made his mark in Europe. We want to achieve more in this area.”

He added: "Only someone like Benitez could take the place of a coach like Mourinho ."

Benitez has a glowing CV despite leaving Liverpool by mutual consent. The Spaniard has twice won the La Liga with Valencia, breaking Real Madrid and Barcelona's monopoly. He also won the UEFA Cup with Valencia in 2003-2004.

Benitez then won the prized UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2004-2005, attaining legendary status among the kopites.

He has also won the "UEFA Manager Of The Year " twice in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005.

An official deal could arrive within the next 48 hours, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
