Amanda “Red Fox” LaVoy vs. Jessica Eye

Undefeated Cleveland resident Jessica Eye enters the cage to a huge standing ovation from the hometown crowd. In addition to her 6-0 professional record, she was the 2009 National Amateur Women’s Champion. LaVoy appears to be the taller fighter with long limbs. The crowd was not pleased when LaVoy was introduced as being from Michigan.

Eye immediately closes the distance, negating LaVoy’s reach advantage. Eye grabs a muay thai clinch and fires off some knees to the body of LaVoy. Eyetrips for a takedown, ducks some upkicks and hammers on the ribs of LaVoy. Eye is trying to get to side control and has it.

LaVoy is trying to use the cage to push off, but Eye has a wide base and is still dropping shots onto LaVoy. LaVoy does not appear to be in much danger as she is well defended from shots to the head, but it is evident that Eye is in control.

Eye laces an arm through for a possible armbar, but loses it. Eye resumes her punishment of LaVoy by sitting on LaVoy’s head and hammering on the chest of LaVoy. That may be a 10-8 round on the scorecard in favor of Jessica Eye.

LaVoy comes out swinging with fists and feet well-aimed at Eye’s face. Eye scores a takedown and moves quickly to sidecontrol. Eye regains her modified north/south position by sitting on LaVoy’s head. LaVoy moves to sidecontrol, looking for mount.

Decides on staying in sidecontrol. LaVoy is throwing knees to the body from the bottom. Eye still looking for mount. Seems content with the salaverry position (crucifix/arm trap)

Eye hammers down on LaVoy’s face with elbows and fists, prompting a referee stoppage. LaVoy’s arm was trapped and was not making any attempt to improve her position. LaVoy is having words with the referee following the fight, but the ref was not having it.

Eye claims to have fought tougher opponents, garnering a laugh from the crowd. Despite LaVoy’s complaining, that stoppage was long overdue. Maybe the Indians should take notes from Jessica Eye as she certainly got some legit hits in against a Michigan opponent.
