Ohio MMA: Frankie Perez vs. Kenny “The Black Spartan” Jackson

Perez trains under Ricardo Almeida in New York, while Jackson is yet another representative of StrongStyle MMA of Cleveland.

Perez is no stranger to big fights, having won several belts in other promotions.

The fighters are glaring at each other from across the cage and this looks like it will be an intense battle.

Jackson is in a southpaw stance while Perez starts orthodox.  Perez shoots for and scores a double leg takedown and presses Jackson into the cage.

Jackson gets his feet under him and works up before Perez takes the fight back to the ground and transitions quickly from side control to backmount.

Perez loses one of his hooks and Jackson tries to shake him loose. Peres regains both hooks and postures up to rain down some strikes. Jackson again senses Perez is high and tries to pop out the back door.

Perez gets a body triangle and looks for a rear naked choke as time expires. Perez easily took the round 10-9.

Jackson’s StrongStyle teammates Jessica Eye and John Hawk are nearby watching Jackson intently.

After a flurry of punches Jackson drives Perez to the cage. Perez is solid on his feet as well as on the mat and Perez again regains backmount position.

Jackson’s corner is encouraging him to get to his feet, which he does, though he cannot escape.

Perez begins dropping shots and Jackson snatches an arm, while trying to throw Perez off. Jackson appears calm and is looking for an opportunity to reverse his position. Perez ends the round still in control. Once again, Perez takes the round 10-9.

Perez is pacing in the corner between rounds and he appears to be no stranger to the cage.

Perez throws some legkicks while Jackson appears to be setting up a headkick. Perez shoots in, exposing his neck. Jackson attempts a lifting slam and Perez works his legs free. Perez is looking good in the wrestling department.

Jackson has his head down and his hips flat on the mat as Perez once again regains backmount. Perez looks for a rear naked choke but loses it.

The fight ends with Perez still in the backmount throwing hooks to the head of Jackson. This one is an easy fight to score with Perez dominating the action.
