World Cup Betting Lines – To Win Group F

Italy – The Italians are going to certainly be the side to watch in Group F. They really shouldn’t struggle at all, as they are going to be the superior side in this field of 32. The Azzurri have already won the World Cup four times, with the fourth coming in 2006 in Germany, and with GK Gigi Buffon manning the net, trying to put anything but bagels up on the scoreboard is going to be an incredibly difficult task. Italy only allowed two goals in seven matches in the most recent World Cup and that may not do a lot of changing this year in South Africa either.

Paraguay – Is this the sneakiest team in the entire World Cup? Paraguay is a club that plays fantastic defense and has frustrated some of the greatest sides in the world in South America in qualifying for this tournament. F Roque Santa Cruz is a top underdog to win the Golden Boot award if the Paraguayans can advance far in South Africa. Even though this is a club that has never won more than one game in a World Cup and has never made it to the Round of 16, mustering a draw against the Italians could yield a Group F victory and a relatively easy draw into the quarterfinals of this event.
Slovakia – Slovakia is about to make its first World Cup appearance in the country’s history. Once a member of Czechoslovakia, the Slovakians have been craving a solid team of their own for years. They came close to qualifying for the 2006 Cup in Germany, but finally got over the hump with a great effort in Group 3 in Europe this year. However, the party will almost certainly be a short one, as this is a team that has a lot of work to do before it can compete with the best sides in the world.
New Zealand – An overmatched team that should just be thrilled to be here, New Zealand knows that it most likely only has three matches to play before it is dismissed and sent home from South Africa. The attack just won’t be strong enough for the Kiwis, as the only hope appears to be a defense which only allowed five goals in seven qualifying matches. Even then, there’s a reason that the World Cup betting lines are so ridiculous on this team in relation to the others in Group F.
If the Italians aren’t careful, they have the ability of dropping all three points in their opening match against Paraguay. We love the opportunity that the South American side of this group has in this bracket, even though it is impossible to see how Italy won’t at least make it through the group.
