British Teenager Tennis Ace Apologizes for 'Sluts' Jibe

Teenage tennis star Laura Robson has apologised for making disparaging comments about the sex lives of her fellow female tennis players.

Robson has been regarded as Britain's brightest tennis hope, and at only 16 years of age she is the 2008 Wimbledon girls' singles champion, and still has years till she reaches her peak.

However, in an interview for next month's issue of Vogue she made a inappropriate and damaging comment about other young tennis players:

"Some of the tennis girls, they're sluts .

"They go with every guy and make such a bad name for themselves.

"And you don't want to be known for stuff like that. You want to be more discreet."

It is believed she attended the interview without a chaperone from her management company, which in hindsight was a bad idea.

After the interview was made public, Robson claimed the quotes had been taken out of context, but she has made a full apology.

In her apology she said:

"Firstly, I would just like to say a big sorry to anyone that I may have offended in an interview published recently."

"I made a totally inappropriate, throwaway comment without considering the consequences.

"I still have a lot to learn both on and off the court, and clearly I need to be a lot more careful about how silly remarks may come across when taken out of context."

Maybe she should stick to what she is good at. Playing tennis.

She is an amazing player, its just a shame that one little interview has made some of the tennis community think differently about her.
