Hogan/Flair Are They Hurting Their Legacy?

Ben JamesJun 3, 2010

There are two men you think of when you think of Pro Wrestling. The Nature Boy Ric Flair and The Immortal Hulk Hogan (Hollywood was much later). With just these two men they have been champion of sort 54 times. At one point Hulk Hogan was the face of the WWE and Ric Flair was the face of WCW. The have numerous accomplishments, Match of the Year, Feud of the year, Wrestler of the year. Both these men have one these awards on several different occasions. Ric Flair was the leader of the best stable in wrestling history (The 4 Horsemen). When the 4 Horsemen walked in the was respect because thy were the sh*t.

Hulk Hogan was who every kid looked up to and wanted to be like. When wrestling came on on Saturday mornings nobody wanted to George "The Animal" Steele, or King Kong Bundy. You were looking for the Red and Yellow of the immortal one.

I could go down the line and look back on some of the great things these men did for wrestling and it would take forever.

Two years ago I watched a man walk out of Wrestlemania with his head held high. Everyone was cheering, some people were crying. It was one of those moments where you just sit back and enjoy. The respect that Ric Flair got that night was something that you will remember forever. Then the next night on RAW, the greatest tribute was put on display when the superstars of wrestling came out to wish the friend farewell.

Not to long before that at WM18, The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan. I saw one of the greatest matches. HULK HOGAN was given respect by one of the top superstars of the business that night. Now I know that was not Hogans "retirement" match (it should have been) but it was one of those moments again that 10 years from now you will sit back and say "remember when?".

Now here we are in 2010 start of a new decade of greatest......................................................................................WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH FLAIR AND HOGAN?

I have tried and tried to figure this thing out and its not coming out right. Go somewhere and sit the hell down. I love both these guys, I really do. But they are hurting the wrestling business. They are hurting the new talent, but most important they are hurting their own legacies.

They both now are in TNA, WHY, I have no idea. This not a TNA bashing segment, but I wish it would just go away. Or at least get rid of Flair and Hogan on TV. I am tired of seeing Ric Flair getting beat up and busted open. With all the blood he is has lost he should be dead. (I know its not real just making a point). I thought it was great when he was being a mentor to A.J. Styles, but then they found a way to screw that up.

Then we have Hulk Hogan who comes out almost every week and beats up everybody. Hogan is like 137 years old, you cant beat anyone up at 137. That's not believable. He can't sell the moves anymore. He is slow and stiff and did I mention he was 160 years old. This not how I want to remember these guys.

I want to remember the Jet Flyin, Limousine ridin, Wheelin Dealing, Kiss Stealin, Son of a gun. And the Whatcha gonna do when the largest pythons in the world run wild on you.

As I stated I love both of these guys. I just think its time for them to sit back and relax and enjoy the business they help build.

Am I wrong for thinking this way? What do you say Bleacher Universe?
