Redskins Trent Williams progressing

The Washington Redskins will be counting on their first round pick, the 4th overall pick, very heavily this year. For the first time since 2000, the Redskins used their top draft pick and chose an offensive tackle. Funny thing is, the tackle chosen in 2010, Trent Williams, is set to replace that Tackle taken in 2000, Chris Samuels. Even better, Samuels has been coaching and assisting in Williams’s development and transition to the NFL.

Williams for one, has been thankful for Samuel’s assistance.

 ”Obviously, it makes me feel good inside, just knowing that they have confidence like that in me,” Williams said. “Chris, being around the game a long time, six-time Pro Bowler, he’s probably one of the best tackles to come through Washington in a long time. Just hearing that from him, and I lean on him for a lot of advice on and off the field, so Chris has been a great mentor for me.”

The biggest challenge Williams noted was the speed of the NFL.  Not surprising, it is a struggle for every single NFL rookie.

“It’s definitely different. The game’s a lot faster,” Williams said. “You’ve got to learn to be a pro real quick. You’ve got to do a lot of stuff on your own to keep your progress going.”

Williams is penciled in right now to start at left tackle, vacated by the retiring Samuels.  The Line features two new starters at bothends,
