Who Does Evan Bourne Have To Thank For His Push: John Morrison

gene DemaioJun 1, 2010

Anybody who watched RAW last night saw a spectacular event, the WWE actually giving one of its young stars a chance to shine. Evan Bourne filled in for Randy Orton in tag match with Cena against Sheamus and Edge. Evan got some good moves in, was exiing, and actually won the match after hitting Sheamus with an Air Bourne. Earlier in the show (actually before it started) Evan came out and said that he's tired of waiting around for his shot and challenged Edge to a match with his spot in the Fatal 4 Way on the line. He's done this before, around Royal Rumble time against Sheamus, but it ended in a squash. This time however it paid off. Hopefully the WWE continues his push because with the departure of HBK and Batista, Triple H out for an extended period, and Randy Orton and the Undertaker severely limited the WWE really needs some new blood to step into the Main Event.

While I am very happy to see Evan Bourne get his shot, doesn't it seem odd that a guy who was deemed an eternal jobber only a month ago and whose biggest accomplishment in the past few months was winning a mini feud with Zach Ryder gets a main event push. The WWE usually doesn't function like that (Well maybe the new WWE does because they just gave Jack Swagger the MITB contract out of no where and he's been champ for about 3 months now). The WWE has always brought along their new stars slowly, earning their way through the tag division and mid card before finally getting their shot. Well I am pretty sure I know where this came from. I mentioned earlier that Evan fill in for the injured Orton in the show, well backstage I' pretty sure he was doing the same thing, filling in for an injured star. But this star wasn't the Viper, it was the Monday Night Delight, John Morrison.

The WWE obviously had a plan for Morrison when they moved him to RAW, especially considering the Main Event hole they left in the SD roster by doing so. Morrison still has yet to engage himself in any type of feud since being drafted to RAW and he has been seen very little. The reason for that is because Morrison has been out with an ankle injury. Much like the Usos were rushed up because of the release of Carlito, I think Evans push was done out of necessity. John has clearly earned his way to being a Main Eventer, he is very popular with the fans, great in the ring and good on the mic, and he has done everything that can be done in the WWE other than be a Main Eventer on RAW or SD.

Regardles of how Evan got here he now has his chance and I really hope he runs with it, for the WWE's sake. I've always liked Evan Bourne and I was just as happy as I was shocked to see him in the Main Event. John will get his chance soon he's to good to rot in the mid-card. What do you think about Evan and John?
