Sabres Force Game 7 vs. Habs

Sidney Crosby. Alex Ovechkin. Heinz Field. Winter Classic...Here We Come

Erin MaweJun 1, 2010

In the hockey world, it doesn't get much bigger (or better for that matter) than this.

Two of the NHL's biggest stars will face off in the Bridgestone Winter Classic on January 1, 2011.

Not only that, but the matchup will take place at none other than Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

Now, being born and raised Pittsburgh, I am slightly biased to be thrilled about both the location and the teams. But even for those who don't root for the Pens or the Caps, this game should hold some merit.

Who wouldn't want to see which player comes out on top of the fight to become hockey's next "Great One?" While this one game certainly won't determine who wins that title, it's another leg up over the competition.

Of course I'm pulling for Crosby and the Pens, but I have to say I have nothing but respect for Ovie. He's obviously an incredible player whose charisma is indisputable.

You can't forget about Heinz Field either. With room for 65,050 screaming fans, this is about as big of a live audience as these guys will ever have.

The view of the city from the stadium (or from the parking lots for those tailgating) is pretty spectacular. The three rivers (The Mon The Al and The O) don't hurt either.

Of course, being from Pittsburgh, I feel that it is my duty to recommend trying a Primanti's sandwich if you head to the Burgh for the game. They are every bit as good as everyone says they are.

Sure, these two didn't get to meet in the playoffs this year (bummer!), but this is a nice consolation.

If you're a Caps fan, Pens fan or simply a hockey fan, this isn't a game to miss.
