Luisito and Manny.....

Luisito Espinosa defended his belt 7 times before losing to Cesar Soto and it took him 8 more fights before he decided to retire. It wasn’t a personal stance it was a public chorus of disapproval because whenever he fights it was a total mismatch. The power wasn’t there anymore and his legs started to betray him. He ended his career in a sour note bowing down to Cristobal Cruz in round 3 and to Carlos Navarro in round 7. He lost his wife and his family in the process and now works in a wholesale store chain… Manny Pacquiao knew much about struggling wash up fighters, he knows Luisito’s downfall and how Muhammad Ali could have prevented himself from further damaging his brain. After Manny won against Miguel Cotto last year he was already contemplating of retiring. The Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout could have been Manny’s swan song but because of some disagreements he instead fought the sturdy Ghanian Joshua Clottey. November that was the exact month Manny fought Cotto last year and come this November, Manny has already decided he will hang up his gloves for good.
7 divisional titles and a number of championship belts win or lose on his next fight; Manny has finally decided to end his career while his health is still intact. He could have garnered more money to his already fat bank accounts if he continues to fight two or more times but money can never be a substitute to family, health or legacy. He worked doubly hard to be on top and now it’s time to reap the fruits of his labor. One fight… one big fight that’s all that matters to Manny right now. Floyd Mayweather Jr. maybe next or any marquee fighter in the star studded welterweight division, Manny just wants that last meaningful fight on his career.
After all the mitts and heavy bag punching, after all the rigid trainings and all the game fighters Manny have fought for the first time Manny is thinking about himself, his wife Jinkee and his lovely children… Too bad Luisito could have made that choice early on his career.
